Ruby's Diner — Restaurant in Whittier

I have enjoyed Ruby's for many years. I have called in orders in the past. I was trying their online ordering ap only to find it did not have/offer a specific item they advertise onsite, on the same page as the online order option. I didn't find this out until after I had added the several other items to my cart; I cancelled the online order and placed a call. Still on hold over 10 mins from the time a girl put me on hold I felt I had been ignored/forgotten and tried calling on a 2nd line. It dropped into a recording about calling back and the mailbox was full. I hung up both lines, and tried again. An Hispanic gentleman answered. I told him I'd been on hold over 10 mins and would he like to take my order. He asked if I wanted to place an order, I replied yes. Without making even an acknowledging the problem, an offer of apology, or any type discount, of he took my order. He restated my order, gave me a total, and say 7 to 10 mins to be ready. My friend left 5 mins later estimating traffic about 5 mins. After he arrived he waited an additional 10-15 mins to get our food. Although oddly not hot, really hardly warm, it tasted as I have had in the past. I am sadly disappointed with this incident and will likely not try ordering from there either online or by phone again. Definately not...

Great food! I tried the bacon burger, and my kid ordered the Hickory burger, both with very thick bacon, and cooked to perfection! The fries had the right amount of crispness, the barbecue sauce, and the ranch dressing were some of the best I've ever had. We also got an Oreo Shake, another hit. The consistency was perfect. It's not overly thick but thick enough to easily drink with the straw even though it had small oreo chunks. We got our food in less than 10 minutes, and even though we went 30 minutes before closing time, our waiter, Anthony, encouraged us to take as much time as we needed. Anthony was an excellent waiter. He was nice, always checked up on us to see how we were doing, and if we needed anything, he made sure he took care of everything. He also told us that kids eat free on Tuesdays when ordering off the kids menu. This is a very quiet and peaceful place, with background music and the atmosphere was great for work, talking with friends, or just a little bit of family time....

Ruby’s is a bit of a traditional concept that won’t be a draw for the hipster craft crowds. But know that it is a very good tribute to that nostalgic era of the greatest generation and the decade after the big band went the way of the Beatles. The food remains of high quality. This is a family place to bring the kids. We were here on a summer Friday night for the car show. So expect to hear some guys talking about their builds. The service is friendly. Although our server was a bit slow this time. Took too long to refill and get our order taken. The Cobb salad is standard fare. I was trying to be healthy. It has plenty of mushrooms and tomato and lettuce. Could use a bit more bacon. Overall a good Cobb. Now the turkey sandwich is a go-to for wifey every time we come here. Its super tasty turkey breast and cranberries remind her of post-Thanksgiving...
