It is very rare that I leave a bad review. Unfortunately, today's visit to Longhorn on North Maize road in Wichita will be memorable but not in a good way. The visit started off good.. Just like any other restaurant visit. Our server took our drink orders then brought those back with a loaf of bread. Took our order and everything was fine with that. I ordered One of the combos offered which was a 6 oz sirloin (medium) w/parmesan crust topping served with a side of grilled shrimp, asparagus, and a mixed green salad with ranch on the side. When my salad came out, I had someone set it down over my shoulder and walk away with no comment made and could not even see who it was (we were also in a booth.) I immediately noticed that the salad did not even look appealing. There was no presentation to it and look like everything was literally just thrown in the bowl at random. The ranch on the side was set on the table by itself next to the salad. When the food came, I immediately noticed that the asparagus was brown. I then noticed how much of the parmesan crusted topping was on the steak... enough to make me think there might have been mashed potatoes underneath it. I cut into the steak and it was cooked well done... There was no pink in it whatsoever and it was super dry. I moved my shrimp off of My plate onto a smaller plate so I could send the rest back when someone came back around. I ate three of the shrimp and they were so incredibly salty that I could not even eat anymore. The shrimp and the rice that they were on top of were dark red due to there being so much seasoning. The waitress came back and I told her about the food and she said she would get the manager. At that point, all three of us had empty glasses and no drinks were offered. There was also never any offer of more bread. The manager came over and I expressed my concerns and he said he would get it fixed. One of the other people in my party ended up having to flag down another waiter to get us a refills. A little bit later I received my new plate of food, which was much better. It was right at that time the waitress brought back our refills. The asparagus was still not good but I did eat a little bit of it. The steak seemed to be okay at a medium level of cooking. I got about 1/3 through my steak and had to stop eating because the rest of it was on the early side of medium rare. The manager brought back his business card and a card for a free appetizer and dessert for a later visit. (We did not order an appetizer with our meal at normally don't and we don't normally order dessert either. We were never even offered dessert at this visit anyway.) I did end up showing the manager the rest of the steak and how it was not the same as the other side of the steak. I made sure he knew I was just wanting to let him know of the uneven cooking and what was being sent out to customers. I received my ticket and they took a 25%, employee discount, off my meal, which was $7 and some change. I did not end up taking any of my uneaten food with me.
I has stopped going to Longhorn for a long time due to visits like this being more frequent than not. I recently started going back there because the friends that I was with today, it is one of their favorite places. Unfortunately, my next visit will not be anytime soon. To be one of the few "steakhouses" in Wichita, I had...
Read moreThe food here is exceptionally good. I ordered a steak that was cooked perfectly and it's just about the only place in town that has Pibb. I was extremely disappointed with the service. Our waitress, Claire, was being very forcefully nice to the point that it seemed incredibly fake. We received our drinks but hadn't decided on what to order yet. She came back to the table 3 times within 3 minutes to see if we had decided yet. She seemed annoyed that she had to wait for us to decide. Our food was brought out and it was fine, I have no complaints about the food. It's hard to enjoy your dinner, though, when you are very obviously being rushed out of there, I am assuming so she could get another table in where we were sitting? She never asked if I needed a refill until I had pushed my empty glass to the very end of the table, and when she finally did she asked if she should bring it in a to go cup. I wasn't even half way done with my food? She brought our check at this time, too. She came back to the table twice while we were still trying to eat to see if we had put our card in the check holder. Finally, when we realized what a burden our presence was and decided to leave, we had paid our bill by scanning the QR code on the receipt. We got up and started to leave. She literally ran up to our table and grabbed the check holder and us accused us of not paying our bill in front of everyone in the restaurant. I informed her I had already paid it online and she muttered a very insincere apology. It was extremely embarrassing for us, and I highly doubt after being treated so poorly that we will return, even though we do enjoy the food. Maybe train your wait staff to check and make sure the table hasn't already paid before running after them and accusing them of a dine and dash in a restaurant...
Read moreI've been traveling across the country with my 7 year old son. We bought groceries for the trip but we wanted something that we didn't have to cook. We stopped at this Longhorn Steakhouse and the only thing I regret is not ordering extra for the road. I ordered the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Steamed Broccoli, it was absolutely amazing. How do they cook this dish without ever making the chicken chewy? The chicken was tender, juicy and easy to cut. The waitress was on top of everything. I'm allergic to any processed meats that have sodium nitrate in it. I did ask the waitress if there was bacon in the potato soup and she said that there is none added onto it but when she brought it out it looked like there was little tiny pieces of bacon floating in the soup. I pulled out the object and sure enough it was a piece of bacon. She found out from the kitchen that they put bacon in the soup ahead of time so the soup sucks up the flavor of the bacon. I totally understood it was not her fault she did not know but luckily I didn't need it because if I did I would have ended up in the emergency room. That was the only downside but there was no big deal everything else was absolutely fantastic and I would definitely recommend anybody going to this longhorn Steakhouse. My son gives it...
