Had a very off putting experience there the other night when an older gentleman who worked there was flustered and hostile over a mistake of overcharging us.
I’ve never seen this man the countless times I have eaten here, but he came up to our table and asked how it was and we mentioned how we were waiting on our naan that came with our order. It was very weird how that seemed to set him off into irritation, where he then said we should have told our server (who was in training with another server) that, which we explained we did. He seemed to not believe us and then called the one in training over and asked her in front of us and she said no that we didn’t tell her. Which was very confusing as we did discuss this with the other server who was training her, and she was present in that conversation.
I notice we were overcharged over $30 and charged for the naan. I politely discussed with the seasoned server and that man who was now at the register that we were overcharged. He was very confused and had no comprehension of his overcharging and became hostile. The server and I had to explain the mistake to him multiple times, it almost seemed he wasn’t willing to understand. After 5 mins at the register it was finally fixed. Mind you, the only one in this entire interaction that seemed upset was the old man.
The server was understanding of the overcharging and was very polite and is always a good server when we have gone there. Unfortunately we won’t be back, as when we went, we invited friends to try out this place we loved and were met with such an uncomfortable experience. This food isn’t cheap and so I’d like to be able to expect good food and service and he made it so uncomfortable that I will now venture further for other Indian...
Read moreWe order quite a bit of Indian food whenever we get it. This was a new place for us! When we placed the order it was online. We get there late, food is still not ready. But when we walked in it looks like a hotel somehow?? There is a man at the counter who was working another job lol he is multitasking taking orders and payment for the food and working on a phone headset also for something else!. If you have seen the movie 'dont mess with the zohan' the cab driver guy who is working a call center job on his headset and driving a taxi is pretty much how it felt lol! we walked up and paid and it was uncomfortable. He was kind of rude and didn't seem like he knew what was going on in the kitchen. He didn't know when the food would be ready and just sort of dismissed me when I asked him. This place did not look like an eating establishment lol it was so strange. They brought the food out after a long wait and they bring it to this little coffee table that remind you of your living room lol. It was kind of messy when put into the bags. The food was NOT bad. It was not amazing, just wasn't good like we had hoped. I feel like it was just a quality issue overall! Regarding a place that's more traditional taste and better quality, I suggest going to Astoria. But if you need something quick you will not get that here. The prices are relative to other Indian food restaurants. The portions of rice were fair, there was plenty. We had lamb and chicken, the lamb had good portions but the chicken dish had bone in dark meat chicken but there was hardly any meat in it. A lot of bones, so that was kind of disappointing. The...
Read moreUpdate: Was very dissatisfied on our last visit sadly. Our server was not very friendly, seemed like we were inconveniencing her and didn't seem to understand our order. My husband and I are very patient souls and understand good food takes time, the wait was not an issue, although, they do take a bunch of time in between order and actual receiving of food be aware. If you want fast food, this is not it. However, when we arrive at 5:05pm after you open at 5pm, and the samosas taste like they were from a box, made from frozen and you have no mint sauce for dipping?!? No excuse. I know how long mint sauce takes to make, this is not acceptable. Then the main dish, chicken tikka masala and garlic naan arrive, very little of anything. Such a shame. This place also does catering, online and take out orders which in my opinion they have made their first priority. So why have the restaurant with seating if you plan on only catering to your OUTSIDE oders? Worst experience ever. Will not be back. We can honestly just make our own at home. The taste is better at home, at a third of the cost. Disappointed but not sorry for the review, that was earned.
Love love love love! Such friendly service. They know our order by heart! Food is so amazing, fresh, authentic and flavorful. The chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, samosas, garlic naan and we'll, pretty much everything..... Is AMAZING! This is our favorite local Indian spot. Yum! Even better than California. AND, the prices, so competitive. Plus the dishes are plentiful. Order a few dishes and share it's such an amazing place...
