Prairie Doughnuts — Restaurant in Wichita

This is a cute very small doughnut shop. It’s never been very busy when I’ve been inside. There are a couple tables to sit down and a tv. It’s very simple. I usually don’t eat in the shop, just take them and go. I’ve gone during the week in the morning around 8:30 and then once on Saturday morning at about 8:15

The doughnuts are so tasty! They are sweet but not too sweet, they are cooked perfectly so they are soft on the inside with a light fry on the outside. They are mostly large yeast doughnuts with some long iohns, cake doughnuts and cinnamon rolls. I have personally eaten chocolate iced, chocolate long john, vanilla iced, maple iced and cinnamon rolls. All of them were incredible! My son told me they are better than Krispie Kreme.

I ordered 4 dozen doughnuts about a week in advance for a church activity. They were tart and waiting for me with a nice assortment as soon as I got there. They were packaged really well and very reasonably priced! I think the total was just under $50 for 3 dozen assorted and 1 dozen glazed. Everyone loved them. 💙

The owner is very friendly and kind. Hours are 4:30a - 11:30a every day, but...

Very little selection/variety by 8am. How can you be out of the most basic donuts by 8am? I wanted glazed donuts and there were none at all. Simple glazed donuts. No jelly filled either. I settled and got a dozen anyways. The actual taste of the donuts were fine, but I won't be back because I can't come earlier since I work nights, can't even get the donuts I want.

Actually amazing to me that you wouldn't have regular glazed donuts. If you are running out of the most simple donut maybe you...

went in at 9:02am to preorder 2.5 dozen donuts for pickup later that day. They said they couldnt do it and I could only buy the stuff that was leftover. There literally was nothing to choose from except the stuff that they made at 4:30a until then that had not been picked through.

Not sure why they have prices like a dozen or half a dozen when they couldnt produce the goods. May have been good if you can get there at 4:30am but probably won't...
