During a recent visit to Sapporo Japanese Sushi Restaurant in Wichita, Kansas, I had the pleasure of sampling several dishes: seaweed salad, miso soup, crab Rangoon, and the dragon roll. Each offering showcased the restaurant's commitment to authentic Japanese cuisine and left a lasting impression.

Seaweed Salad

The meal commenced with a refreshing seaweed salad. The vibrant green seaweed was delicately seasoned, offering a harmonious blend of sweet and tangy flavors. The subtle crunch of the seaweed, combined with a light sesame dressing, made for a delightful appetizer that awakened the palate without overwhelming it.

Miso Soup

Following the salad, the miso soup was served warm and comforting. The broth was rich and savory, infused with the distinct taste of fermented soybeans. Soft tofu cubes and fresh scallions floated within, adding texture and a mild onion-like flavor. This traditional soup provided a soothing interlude before the more robust dishes that followed.

Crab Rangoon

The crab Rangoon at Sapporo was a delightful twist on a classic. Crispy wonton wrappers encased a creamy mixture of crab meat and cream cheese, fried to golden perfection. The exterior offered a satisfying crunch, while the interior was rich and flavorful. Paired with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.

Dragon Roll

The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the dragon roll. This visually stunning sushi roll featured a combination of tempura shrimp and cucumber, wrapped in seasoned rice and nori. The roll was then artfully topped with thin slices of avocado and eel, drizzled with a sweet eel sauce. The interplay of crispy tempura, creamy avocado, and savory eel created a complex and satisfying flavor profile. The presentation was equally impressive, resembling a dragon, which added an element of artistry to the dining experience.

Ambiance and Service

Sapporo offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a decor that reflects traditional Japanese aesthetics. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, providing prompt service and insightful recommendations. The restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity is evident not only in its cuisine but also in its overall dining experience.

Conclusion

My experience at Sapporo Japanese Sushi Restaurant was exceptional. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, highlighting fresh ingredients and traditional flavors. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or new to Japanese cuisine, Sapporo offers a diverse menu that caters to a variety of palates. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their...

I had been waiting to visit here since I saw their flyer earlier last week. I went in to place a to-go order and I was so impressed I had to write a review for once. I believe I was helped by the owner who was so incredibly nice and funny. As I waited for my order to be done, she offered me water or soda, I was given complimentary soup to go with my order. Offered me a seat while I waited, not something I've experienced at other sushi restaurants around town waiting on a to-go order. There was a tornado warning at the time when I was about to leave and both the owner and staff were so concerned about me making it home safely. It was nice, the customer service there is easily a 10/10.

As for the sushi it was equally as good, fresh and delicious, decently priced. I am excited to try other rolls they have. My only complaint is some of the rice on my two rolls was crunchy. But that is it and definitely nothing that will keep me from coming back. Sapporo being only a few blocks away from my apartment will definitely make it my to go place for sushi since it is a chore to drive to...

The way they serve larger parties isn’t the greatest. When they agree to reserve or tsar parties pass 10 people. Especially for an event being seated separately isn’t what people expecting. Especially for event or party. “Yes we can take the party of 12.” Four will be seated across for you and the rest on the other side. Two servers two tables apart from each other. Ok well let us talk across from the table for 1/4 of party and disturb the rest of the crowd. Server was not nice about it, was not helpful, I will not come back to this place. The best thing is just take out. Oh and they don’t take out on Friday and Saturday nights. Also the server stood behind me and was looking at my phone. That’s a plus. So unprofessional. Thank you but no thanks. Show below is picture of the rest of our party.

Got seated pretty much right away. This is a nice place hidden in a junky looking parking lot. Food was delicious, service was average. Not a whole lot of tables, but it seemed like there was maybe only two servers. Staff was helping each other out. I made sure to tip well. Prices are fair. Nice ambiance. Only complaint is that the ratio of space between the back of the bench to the front of the table is huge. Like, if you lean back, you can't eat, and if you lean forward, there's about 3 ft of space behind you. Felt odd.
