"Our New Favorite Dining Spot" We decided to try Poppi's on 9-24-20 and we are so glad we did. Our meals were amazing seriously. My Penne a la Salmone (Salmone was smoked) was soooo good all I can say is I tasted every ingredient in every bite. It was a very generous amount of delicacy I absolutely loved it. My wife's Spaghetti with clams was excellent. Our daughters Gnocchi Sorrentina was excellent as well (Tomato Sauce is critical in any Italian dish that's why I can honestly say they nailed it, the sauce was perfect.) "Appetizers": The Orancini Rice Balls was excellent but the tomato sauce made it amazing. Now... we also had Sausage Broccoli Rabe as an appetizer which I think next time (And there definitely will be a next time) I wanna get it as a entree if it's possible because it was amazing as well. My 2 year old Grandson had a kids pizza which he loved and honestly we did too (C'mon every family has to taste everyone's else's food. Don't ya??) "Service": Now there were 4 adults and one 2 year old so you can imagine how the server would have their hands full (we kept him busy) I gotta tell you our server "Anthony" nailed it, we ran him around a bit with can we get this and we need that. Anthony tended to our every needs and even had time to come back and check up on us later with a smile and complete professionalism yep...he was that good. Thanks Anthony for a well done job and service and putting up with us. Your very good at what you do. Who ever reads this do yourself a favor no better give yourself and family a treat and dine at this jewel of a Italian cuisine restaurant. I believe you won't be sorry and you'll leave full and content. Thanks Poppi's for a great and memorable meal we'll see you again real soon. The Ferraro...
Read moreMy 25 yr old daughter walks in with a thermos and had the manager, stick her hands in her face and tell her to "give her the thermos". Tells her that she's not allowed in with it. My daughter said "no" and she tells her she'll give it back when we're done eating saying that the owner doesn't want kids with these on the table. First of all, my daughter is 25, second she has an ADA card and needs to have her water with her at all times. I guess you can bring in beer and wine, but not a thermos with water. Even if it had alcohol; SHE'S 25! Separate issue is that we ordered two pies and asked if the Margherita had garlic on it and the waitress says it did not. We get the pie and as we're eating it, it is very garlicky. We tell the waitress and she takes away more than half of the pie, comes back and says she was told it's in the sauce and asks if we want something else and we say yes. They bring the bill and charged us for 3 pies. We argue and now the same nasty manager tells us that we ate some of the original pie. We explain that she shouldn't have taken the balance and thrown it away, she should have given it back to us. Instead of graciously removing a $15 charge she charges us $7.50 for the half we ate. ARE YOU KIDDING?! TALK ABOUT HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! WILL NEVER GO AGAIN! By the way, pizza isn't what it used to be. All three were burned cause they're not putting half the barrata and sauce toppings like...
Read moreI recently visited Poppis Brick Oven Pizza in Wildwood, and unfortunately, my experience wasn’t the best. The restaurant itself has a cozy vibe, but it felt pretty empty when we were there. We were seated right away, and the restaurant was clean and organized, which I appreciated.
I ordered the pan-seared salmon, which was very bland — it had no seasoning at all and needed a lot of salt and pepper just to be edible. I also tried the Penne Alla Delizia which was just okay, nothing special. Even the Coke I ordered had way too much syrup. Overall, the food was pretty disappointing.
Service started out fine, but as it got later, it became hard to find our server. When we asked for dessert, we were told it was too late, without any heads-up that the kitchen was closing. We still managed to get dessert to-go, but by then the manager had started shutting off lights and doing side work right in front of us, making us feel pretty unwelcome. The manager also came off as rude, unfriendly, and judgmental, which really left a bad impression.
To top it off, neither the server nor the manager seemed to know how to use their POS system (Open Table) or combine checks, which made paying more complicated than it needed to be.
Overall, I wouldn’t go back or recommend this place to others. Between the bland food, awkward service, and uncomfortable closing experience, it just...
