We drove from Eastern Panhandle, WV to Williamsburg to eat for our anniversary. Very disappointed in the Crab legs, they were really really salty, soggy and could not get the meat out or no meat. We brought it to the waitress attention after 1st trip to bar. She alerted a manager. She tried to fix the problem. She went back and got about 5 claws from kitchen, they were exactly the same. The main Cook came out, he said they are getting them from another supplier and they salt them. My husband did talk to manager Mr. Tom. He just had the main cook Edgar come talk to us. He told us a few weeks ago there was a problem with them being salty. So he offered to cook us some fresh shrimp and scallops. These were very good. The scallops were normal size, not small baby batter fried. Normal size grilled/broiled. But, that still doesn't take care of cost that we paid. My granddaughter only ate one claw they were so salty and watery. I myself ate about 4, while dieing of the salt intake. My husband may have ate 2 total because of salt. Tom the manager was rude and irrogent. When he come over to our table to talk to us because my husband ask about a discount to waitress. She came.back.and stated he said no, just present us the bill. My husband ask if he could come talk to him Mr. TOM brought a security guard with him. Since when does a restuarnat manager need to bring a security guard to a customers table. Mr. TOM said, just pay the bill, I knew this was going to happen, you all been here an hour and half. That to me was disrepectful to us first of all, we were not there to cause any trouble. He acted like this in front of my granddaughter, he is lucky I didnt stand up and twll him just what I thought about his irrogent self. Well, we wait waited for the waitress to bring claws from kitchen. Then cook came out and talked to us and waited for the shrimp and scallops. He was assuming because we been there an hour and half we ate the whole time. My granddaughter ate one claw, a small scoop of mac and cheese, some rice pudding and 2 cookies. I ate 3 shrimp from bar, a small spoon of crab imperial and seafood imperial. And a spoon of small scallops. And those 4 crab claws, tried a very small piece of carrot cake and cherry cheese cake. I ordered a drink from bar and it had to be made twice to get it right and still was not right My husband ate a spoon of crab imperial and small piece of. The cheese cake. The 12 scallops and about 2 dozen shrimp. Mr. TOM the manager did not care about the customer services. The waitress kept saying its not my fault, I am so sorry. She knew they were no good. The first time in 30 years I have ever had a horrible experience at a Captain Georges. I have been to SC, VA Beach and this one. Mr. TOM needs to realize in his line of business the customer is who pays him. He should have should better customer service. The place was not busy at all, never been there or any of them when there were no lines and not busy. Being they were aware there was a problem with the crab legs being too salty, to soggy and could not get meat out. The whole experience tonight was just absolutely horrible. I will never step foot in that Captain Georges again. Thank God our friends who drive over 500 miles to come there did not. come this time. We usually come with them twice a year. Seriously Mr. TOM should apologize to my granddaughter for accusing her for eating for an hour and half and embarrassing her coming to our table bringing a...

Tom the manager is a waste of time. Rude.
We traveled 250 miles and $500 for a weekend that mainly was to eat at Capt George's.
I never expected the crablegs to be so salty. Main reason to eat at Capt George's is for crablegs.
Capt George's Williamsburg has a new crablegs supplier. They arrive pre-brined as the others did. But Way over salted...so much cant really taste the crabmeat. Everything else is good though. Spoke with kitchen manager. Although he can't fix the crablegs, he fixed a plate of shrimp and scallops.
Think twice before getting crablegs here. Probably other Capt George restaurants too.

Been going since in my early 20s probably 1-2 times a year. This was the only time crablegs were overly salty.
I was quite respectable letting server know the crablegs were over cooked for one but mostly were way too salty. She offered to get clusters from a new batch and she did. But they weren't any better. I walked up and mentioned the problem with the main manager Tom. I felt he was rude. He acted uninterested and really didnt help but got the kitchen manager. Wanted to at least bring to his attention.
Kitchen manager explained about changing crableg supplier and they come shipped pre-brined like the others but these are saltier. They are presoaking them crablegs. Costs them $8 a pound. He said out of Alaska, server thought came from Canada. Another manager Abdul or someone thought was from Atlantic. Either way, nothing more they can do to unsalt the crablegs. I suggested presoaking them then cook them changing water each time. Not sure if he will try that.
They all said noone else complained about the crablegs being overcooked or over salty. Bev noticed right away the over saltiness. But they were fully aware of what I was speaking about. Surprised noone else speaks their mind...not complaining...openly communicating the problem.
Anyways, I sampled other food they normally have had and it was all good.
The kitchen manager and server really tried their best to resolve the disappointment. We mainly came to Williamsburg for crablegs and the assortment of buffet items. The kitchen manager fixed 3 special plates for us...boiled and fried butterflied shrimp...and large scallops. The shrimp & scallops were very good. They were fine but not for the price crablegs...about $50 a person.
The kitchen manager checked back up on us. I was honest and said the food was good all except the crablegs being over salty as discussed. Yet while the shrimp he fixed was very good, they weren't good at crableg prices.
The main manager Tom was quite rude. I felt they should have discounted the buffer since couldn't eat the crablegs. Disappointment on the crablegs. I explained all this and felt shouldn't be paying full price for crablegs they fully know are overly salty. I can't believe noone else brought it to their attention.
I called back to ask more about the crablegs. Another manager said he was fully aware of the crableg problem and they were trying to presoak them before cooking. I suggested changing the boiling water each time but said that takes too long. Anyways they are aware but yet still charging full price.
Yep, can't go to Capt George's until they change crableg...
