Some friends and I were going to a show at Wilson Center but wanted to get dinner somewhere close by beforehand. After a quick search we found Commodore was only a block away. None of us had ever been (or even heard of it), so we figured why not try it out! The risk ended up being well worth it!!! While not a very big space, it is intimate and cozy. We saw online that they had specials most nights of the week. This particular night was 50% off wine and all sandwiches were $12. Since this was our first time eating there, we decided to get a couple of apps and two sandwiches to get feel for what they had to offer. For apps, we ordered the Mid Rats and the Albondigas. Had we known how huge the portions would be, we could have just eaten them by themselves. The Mid Rats was a very large portion of crinkle fries topped with mojo pork, wiz, wasakaka, shredded lettuce and poblano ranch. This was an excellent app. The pork was so tender and flavorful. Fries cooked perfectly crisp.everything about it was well balanced and enjoyable. The Albondigas was phenomenal!! Three giant beef and pork meatballs stewed in a sofrito birria sauce, covered with melted chihuhua and provolone cheese and served with garlic toast. The sauce was rich and had such a depth of flavor, with the perfect amount of heat. The meatballs were moist and tender and having the toast was a must, because you just wanted to sop up all of the sauce. For the sandwiches, we ordered the Big Tyne and Sandy’s Cuban Mix. The Big Tyme was a lemon pepper fried chicken sandwich with provolone, garlic pickles, garlic mayo, all on a potato bun. The chicken was ridiculously tender, perfectly fried and full of flavor. The whole sandwich practically disappeared in seconds. Delicious! Sandy’s Cuban Mix was a take on a cubano sandwich. Mojo pork, ham, salami, baby Swiss, garlic mayo, mustard, garlic pickles, lettuce, tomato - all on a Cuban roll. It was huge! Very well balanced. The bread was surprisingly soft. Overall an excellent experience. Will definitely go back!

Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had out in a while! All thanks to Chef Kendal. This man is from New Orleans and you can tell by his wonderful food and personality. We started off with the wings. We ordered regular buffalo flavor with pablano ranch… Damn they were some of the best wings I’ve had in the state. They were Smokey, crispy, juicy and delicious! We ordered burgers, sandwiches, collard greens and everything was delicious. The drinks were all phenomenal as well. Kaitlyn took great care of us. This place is small like an upscale dive bar really great decor/atmosphere. There was 6 of us and we sat at the bar. I wouldn’t say this place is for big parties but definitely a great date night or somewhere to go to grab a great meal and drink. We will be back!

One of the best spots in Wilmington! The food is outstanding, the owner is awesome and was super helpful and friendly. The French dip sandwich is out of this world and super unique, not your normal French dip! The savage was one of the best fried chicken sandwiches my husband and I have had. Everything you want in a chicken sandwich🤤 The Mac n cheese was incredible as well as the north 4th salad and the tostones!!! Don’t pass these up. Can’t wait to come back! There is only one booth so if you have more than a few people, go early or there is bar seating and small table seating as well.

Commodore is such a cute, hole-in-the-wall spot that truly delivers! The food is phenomenal and the drink selection is equally impressive, with unique cocktails and a solid lineup of beers and wines. The mac and cheese is absolutely out of this world - creamy, cheesy, and perfectly indulgent. It’s worth the trip just for that alone!

The bartender was super friendly and accommodating. She was attentive, made great recommendations, and had such a warm and welcoming vibe.

If you’re looking for a cozy, laid-back place with great food, drinks, and an even better atmosphere, this is the spot. Highly recommend...
