WATCH YOUR BILL! Dave & Buster’s automatically wants you to tip on game cards!
Dave & Buster’s want you to order a game card when you’re dining so you’ll tip on the game card too.
Went there with a group of friends and tweens on a late Thursday afternoon. Not busy but extremely loud. If we were all having a good time, planned on staying for dinner and more games.
The host told us to buy our game cards from the waitress. Our waitress emphasized that also. We assumed that’s the ONLY place we could purchase the cards. I wanted the $55 game card but the waitress insisted the $75 card. Again, I didn’t want it, but she still charged me and my friend for the $75 cards anyways.
Ordered a $30 appetizer and a coke ($4) and when she came out with the bill it had the $75 game card on it wanting you tip at least 18% on the game card also. Why are they making customers pay a tip on a game card? The tip suggested 18% ($20) on a $112 bill? Only $34 of it was food! I have absolutely no problem tipping big, but I will tip based on the food and service not be forced to tip on a game card that’s over twice my food bill. She did the same to my friend’s bill who only ordered a drink and a $75 gift card. Again, wanting a tip on a gift card!
When I asked her why this isn’t 2 separate bills she said this is Dave and Buster’s policy of combining the food and game card. She gave us attitude and became defensive right away suggesting she’s had this question before. We never saw her again. Had she not cocked such a crappy attitude right away, I was planning on giving her a $20 tip despite the bill, but she quickly changed my mind.
We will never go there again....
Read moreMy family is a huge fan. We've been here twice now and each time was a great experience. If we start with games, they have a great selection of reasonably priced modern/well functioning games. If there was any issue with game, a tech was there in minutes (and we went on busy days) to fix the gave/give us a credit back if we couldn't play the game right away. The prize room has some great selections and again, also reasonably priced. My son always walks out happy with a lot of loot that's modern and relevant. Let's be honest, not many kids want a Chinese finger trap or a plastic spin top these days. They have Mario, Sonic, Minecraft, Star Wars, Spider-Man, Hot Wheels, etc. They even have a Nintendo Switch which is super fun. Adults, they have stuff for you too like a wireless charging mat, a muscle massager, coffee cups and more. The staff they have there are pleasant and enjoyable to be around which again, is something of a rarity these days. The restrooms were clean and in general the whole facility is kept clean. We ate lunch their and I thought the Power Bowl was excellent and the three boys I had enjoyed the kids menu. Honestly, reasonably priced as well. We have the Summer Pass and that works out to be a great deal, worth every penny. Just keep in mind it has a weekly 2,000 maximum so make sure your kid understands that they might need to do some saving to get what they want. My family is so glad they added this to Mayfair because Jungle Rapids arcade is outdated/over priced and their prizes...
Read moreSo, I think its a bit less than 5 stars but I feel like they have been improving a lot. It's a new place and I think it needs better ways to train staff. Although, people working there are all nice and friendly. There were some instances where the young ones working there were too busy talking and doing something that looked like nothing while we waited and their did give us misinformation before but I blame the training. You could tell they were lacking the training and I can't blame them for it. The issue with the discount from the summer pass is a bit confusing but I still can't blame the staff for the system that's being used. It's very confusing to everyone.
The machines break a lot more than any other D&B we've been too but they do try to fix them asap and we have good choices for games. I think machines not working right has been the most frustrating experience with this location but again, can't blame the staff as it was going on since the opening.
Otherwise, the summer pass value is really good, even if you only get it for a few weeks, the food is pretty good if it's not busy, the games are fun, and the prizes are super cool. The stuffed toys machine has amazing toys. We love to collect sets of toys but we keep them or gift them if it's a repeat. Totally worth the time and the money. It's our favorite arcade all year round, despite all the issues they have. At least they hire good people, so it makes up for the crap everyone has...
