If I could give this review zero stars, I would. I had the worst experience imaginable today. As “fresh food” was being served to us, we noticed a hair right on top of the hash browns that I ordered. I spoke to our waitress and she brought another one out, no problem. Next, there is gnat stuck within the side of the cup; mind you there were no flies, insects, or bugs at the table where we were dining at the entire time. Soon after, my friend tells me there was hair on plate that were served to us to use as side plates. I mention this to our waiter and she expressed this information to her manager because due to our experience and he was no help. We explained to this man how we have come to Libby’s often as Wilmington natives and never ever had this issue whether it’s a to-go order, pickup, or DoorDash. The manager who was working was clearly the owner, and wanted to go back and forth on why these issues were happening. He said that the “the hair in our food could’ve came from the air, the workers, or even us”. Keep in mind, I don’t even have the same hair texture or color as the waiter and or even a few of the workers there. After a lot of discourse, he thought adding a discount to our meal would suffice in this predicament and I’m not sure how that would remedy anything we’ve experienced. Not to mention, when I was explaining the issues to him he was not trying to make eye contact with me or acknowledge anything I was saying, and it seemed as if he only wanted to discuss this with a man. If that wasn’t his intention, that is how I perceived it and told him that. He was argumentative, dismissive, and tried to talk over me many times. I guess this is the new management that has taken over Libby’s and it’s terrible, 0/10 would recommend. Libby’s used to be a staple breakfast restaurant for me. This new management is is beyond terrible and rude, I definitely not be back. Overall, our waiter was nice and I tipped her because this wasn’t her fault, however, Libby’s has some serious issues. The heath department definitely needs to visit the...
Read moreIf I could give a negative star I would. I am a Delaware Native and I returned home looking for Libby. I used to go there as a kid and eat breakfast with my family and later took my children. I visited once and was glad to see the original cook but today I ordered when he was walking out of the door. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with Turkey bacon. I am Muslim and appropriately dressed. I was ensured by the waitress that it would be all turkey products. I bit my sandwich and it was a turkey club sandwich with pork bacon and it was not done. I was very upset and dissatisfied and the waitress apologized and indicated in a joking manner that she shouldn’t have to babysit the cook. The staff and manager apologized but I am very dissatisfied that I had to eat pork against my will and my religion. Very careless unprofessional and the young lady at the register is very impolite because she stared at us the entire time. Needless to say I have a whole headache after that visit. Nasty and there were no fries. Libby please come back🥺 I would highly suggest that they pay better attention to Detail! Not a good way to represent for the...
Read moreWhen I stepped off the bus from New York City (the Big Apple if you will) I didn’t know what to expect from the Wilmington food scene. It was a cold Saturday morning and I was hungry. Hungry for food.
After a quick google search, Libby’s popped up: “0.3 miles away”. Walking distance, 5 stars - worth a shot, I thought. Several minutes later I had arrived at the restaurant, beckoned by the sign hanging outside.
Upon entry, I soon realized I had made a good decision. The joint was bustling with families and patrons, waitresses moving to and fro taking orders. I was promptly seated by the very friendly waitress who explained what scrapple was, although today was not the day I would try it. Maybe another day, another Delaware trip, but not now. Its time would come.
The food was tasty and cheap.
As I leave Delaware, the cold stings my face. The cold of knowing that it may be months before I step into Libby’s again. Months before I hear the word “scrapple”. I am comforted, however, by the knowledge that Libby’s will be here for me when I do...
