It was a hot summer (still spring though) day in June, when I took my daughter to her riding lesson. I had to pack my youngest two kiddos along, as their father was out of town and could not be home with them. I also needed to get gas on my truck, and had nothing for the littles to drink, so I decided to drop my oldest daughter off at her lesson, and proceed to the nearest town. Wilsonville. We hunted for a gas station after google sent us to two locations where there was not a gas station. Finally finding one and getting gas, the kids were now hungry AND thirsty on this 86+ degree day. And there it was. Shining like a beacon on the Horizon. Sonic Drive-In.
Now, I wish I could tell you I was able to show my children the joys of yesteryear, parking and placing your food order then waiting patiently and eating it in your car. But alas, my truck was too big to fit into the drive- in spots. But wait, there's a drive-thru! So we hopped in the line to order our food the only way we could, in the drive thru. We waited a few, as the drive-thru line was long. It gave us enough time to look at the menu and figure out what we would get to eat and drink at this hidden gem of a fast food joint. You see, there are not very many Sonic restaurants in this area. This one is many miles from our home so we've never been there. It was like a lucrative opportunity we'd managed to stumble upon. After some debate, the kids decided they should order nerds slushies, grape flavored like the picture, and one for their sister who was riding horses at the time, and corndog kids meals. The employee that took my meal was great, they asked me ever so kindly to turn off my very loud Diesel truck as they couldn't hear me over it. So I obliged. I gave the order, and my kiddos began to wail in the back seat. I'd forgotten to ask for ketchup packets and lettuce on my son's extra hamburger (he'd asked for it to be plain, mayo only). When we arrived at the window I immediately cut the engine on my truck as I couldn't hear anything the employee was saying. She gave me my total, and I promptly asked if I could add lettuce to the burger and get some ketchup packets. But I said "Can you give me more ketchup packets than you've ever given anyone?" - you see my daughter eats food with her ketchup. She doesn't eat ketchup with her food. So once we received the order she handed me an additional small bag, it was the ketchup. It was exactly the amount we needed! And the burger had lettuce on it just like requested. Everything was exactly as it was asked to be. I now had two very happy kids, and was returning to a third that would also be pleased. The only downfall is they don't have any fish products, so my pescatarian daughter who was awaiting our arrival was only to get french fries. But, all in all, I'm impressed. I will be making the long drive to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI defiantly won't be back to this place anytime soon. Was road tripping from Idaho. We(my boyfriend and I) needed a bite to eat it was late (10:30 pm maybe). I have an onion allergy. The local kids are pressing the red talk buttons for fun and they have 4 or 5 other cars but don't seem too busy. We try to download the app with no luck. Then we text the number for deal and there is only one deal and it wasn't very good. We order and I get the special chesse burger with a milkshake deal. We tell them I have an allergy and ask for my food without onion and no cheese. She is friendly and says okay. We wait and she comes with our food and chats about the survey to do and how to talk about our experience. My boyfriend forget to get his food no onion but usual it's not an issue except this time. His food is covered in onion it's so bad I crack the window. Then I open my burger and there is cheese okay I can eat it no issue but wait there is onion. Although the burger wrapper says No Onion No Cheese right on it. So, we push the button again and the same young woman comes out and is flustered. She takes the burger and then a few minutes later comes back with a new burger but this one is bigger looks like an upgrade. Sweet more food which is cool I'm starving but just my luck it smothered in mustard and thousand island dressing (which has onion in it). When I say smothered I mean it was dripping off the burger. Then, I get a bite of onion. At this point I'm done. So, we finish and leave. I do my inhaler a few times so my throat doesn't close. We get to our destination and we are too tried to care about anything. I take my inhaler again we shower then sleep. The next morning our clothes and sheets are thrown in the wash because they reek of onion and then the car is sprayed with cologne because it reeks of onion. My advice to this place lay off the onions people don't need to wash it out of their cars...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place has consistently gone downhill. Everytime we go, we have another issue. This time, they told me my debit card was "not authorized". I called my bank and they said that is nonsense. I went to McDonalds and it worked just fine. Good thing I had some cash on me so I could at least get the drinks I wanted. Well, I get all the way home and the bottom of one of our Route 44oz Sodas completely broke out in a perfect circle and dumped all over our living room couch and rug. Nice. What are the odds of a styrofoam cup having the entire bottom fall out in a perfect circle? Seems suspect to me. Needless to say I am furious! What a joke.
Update: So this is what I got back from Sonic after my complaint to their corporate office. Really, a free drink? For the drink that basically exploded all over my leather couch and new shag rug? Unbelievable. "Merica's Drive-In"
