Bagels and coffee are absolutely delicious, not sure if they are worth nearly $20 though, but, the portion for each bagel IS big. The guy behind the grill had a bit of an attitude and seemed to be more friendly to regulars that came in than someone like me (or seemingly the family that was there) who was just visiting for the first time. Was told the bagels would take 10 minutes but they took about 30, it's not an issue though, I had nowhere immediate to be but this could be bad for business (though I wish this place success). I'm not sure if I want to revisit just based off of my experience, but if I would it be a very long time from now. I can see why people keep coming back for the bagels though, I do think its probably the best bagel I've had (like the sign claims).
Edit: I see the business has finally responded after 5 months lol. I was never asked to order online nor did I see a sign that said "order online only"... There may have been a sign that said "order online" but that doesn't take away from the fact that there is ability to order with cash or card at this store, so idk why this guy who runs it is making a big deal over something that is literally his business practice... get rid of the cash and card kiosk if you don't want people to order at the store. I was also as friendly as could be to this guy behind the grill and didn't even come back at him when he was snoddy. Responding to an old review that could have been handled in the moment or within days after even and trying to make the customer look bad to pump up his own business is a bad look and I can say with certainty now that I won't be coming back, I was considering it, but now I definitely won't be. These reviews that are even just a little critical (mine for example) seem to get under this man's skin and the only thing I've ever seen on the reviews is him blaming the customer and not taking accountability here and on his youtube... My guy, you can't blame your attitude on someone else like me who treated you like you were human and not a "servant", while you treat the customer like they are unhuman. But then you'll be nice to some pretty looking girls or rich looking people while someone like myself or a family walks in and gets treated almost like enemies (which literally occured when I was there). I wish you the best again man but I am never coming...
Read moreWORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! My husband and I were excited to go to Steamy’s because we heard great things about their bagels and were looking forward to eating there. We were visiting Winchester for the first time. We walked through the front door at 11:30 AM and the owner asked if we were there to pick up an order. We said we were there to place an order and that’s when he abruptly said it’s pick up only. We asked if we should leave and he did not respond. His friend who was sitting on the other side of the counter said no we should stay and began to make recommendations of food we should order. Then the owner said he was busy slinging bacon and bagels and had two orders ahead of us. All the while a young woman not doing anything was standing nearby watching him work. We should’ve walked out right then and there but we were hungry and relied on the friends recommendations that we should stay. The owner went ahead and made the food and never engaged with us whatsoever. It was a very uncomfortable and strange interaction. When the order was ready the owner told us the coffee was old and of course he never offered to make a new pot. At this point we would not have been willing to wait had he. we left to go eat the food. When we opened it up we found an oily mess. My husband compared it to a greasy baseball. The bagels are NOT bagels. They claim they make bagels but they are actually garlic knots. The eggs were burnt, the spinach was oily, the avocado was old, and oil was dripping from the entire mess. Unfortunately, my husband ended up eating his “bagel” just because he was hungry. Afterwords we went online to read reviews about steamy‘s. One in particular was by a woman who said her husband ended up having stomach pains and diarrhea later on that day after having the same experience we did. It’s only a matter of time before my husband will be sitting on the toilet too! DON’T WASTE YOUR...
Read moreVery disappointed in first experience at this place this morning. I just moved to Winchester and was looking forward to trying the “local bagel place.” I walked in this morning and the owner took my order. I asked him if he had specific items such as sausage and red pepper(was meaning to say red onion but I completely blanked) He looked at me like I was crazy. I ordered three bagels, all bacon egg and cheese and a iced coffee. He made the iced coffee by putting ice water in a cup and dumping the coffee grounds into the cup. A family visiting the Winchester area who was behind me in line said they were in town to visit and were also looking for a bagel shop. When the mother of the family asked the owner what kind of bagels they had the owner said “Guys, it would be much easier if you looked at the website.” He has about three bagel selections so it definitely would not hard to name the few selections especially when it was only two of us in the line to order. Then the family was very upset with how he answered them so they ended up leaving instead of ordering. Needless to say the website does NOT WORK and you are unable to order online and there is no number to call on google as well so him getting upset with us coming in to order is BS! When I got home I felt terrible stomach pain and had terrible diarrhea. I would not recommend this place to anyone and am very disappointed the “local bagel shop” is terrible. I feel so bad for the family who was visiting and probably got a terrible impression of the area due to how terrible the customer service is at this place. I will not being going back and am very upset the local bagel shop...
