I was staying uptown for a convention, and the hotel bar closed at 10. The front desk and bellman told me about the Thristy Palette. Not too far a walk from the Marriot, and I felt safe walking alone.
I had to wait a little bit to get to the bar because it's really small inside. But I wasn't in a hurry. When I finally got to the bar, I waited over 10 minutes before I got up. I ws seated pretty much in the middle of the bar. The bald man with red beard served everyone on both sides of me multiple times. I tried to order, even asked him if I was in the right place, and he constantly ignored me. When the young woman came over I asked if I could order, and she said "in a minute." That minute never came. The 2 of them were laughing and talking and at the counter, then turned and went to opposite ends of the bar.
I bartend part-time, and I understood to a point. The rudeness was uncalled for. I doubt they will do better,...
Read moreI used to be a rep in this area. I have never written a “postmortem” on an experience ever, but I feel strongly enough still in the future to do so. This was my worst experience as a rep. The owner wasn’t pushing for extra so that his locals could have a better experience, he was pushing for his own ego because “supposedly” bigger brands like Jameson did so much for him so I was to do the same even as a local product. I worked for free behind the bar and provided more than what was agreed upon for the event. Then on top of it, he spoke poorly to me and his own locals behind their backs. It was just a bizarre experience and one I am glad isn’t the norm in North Carolina. Just a very rude owner, but wonderful locals who were able to make my night despite the fact that I was in tears due to his treatment. Winston Salem is a great area though and their people are down to earth...
Read moreI went in and no one was at the door. When I walked in, some random man came out hostility screaming at me for an ID. I quickly sorted through my purse, making jokes. He gets more and more aggressive as I am talking. I sit at the bar and ask the bartender who the manager was the bartender tells me he is I explained to him that I felt like that guy was being abusive. He agreed and serviced me. Then the bouncer walked up and decided to kick us out for “talking about him”. The bartender said he had no authority at that point and allowed the hot tempered boy to kick us out....
