My review specifically references the Spirits/Spirits flight at the Richland Winery. My interest was in the nature of spirits distilled from grapes/wine (I don't know the details of how they did it since we had no discussion with the staff).
GR charged us $15 for a "flight" (if we can all it that...😂) of 3 spirits plus a "cocktail" (more like a mocktail...😖). The biggest issue were the size of the pours.... There was not more than perhaps a quarter to at most a third of an ounce in our glasses. This is INSANE! I have been sipping countless spirits for years - and was shocked that we would not have been provided decent pours for $15 - a half or 2/3s of an oz costs absolutely nothing to GR - but they gave us barely enough except for a couple of small sips.
Second, and nearly as significant, the spirits suck - they are just not quality material. I give some credit to the vodka - not bad - and interesting. I did not bother finishing my teeny pour of gin (yuck!) - and the brandy - started well but late mid-palate into the finish became bitter... Simply lousy brandy - don't waste your effort.
The so called cocktail - Silly - sweet lemonade with no noticeable alcohol - what a joke - irrelevant.
So there you have it - don't waste your time or money on GR's spirits or spirit flight... Super disappointed in the corporate treatment of this part of the business - and colors my perspective of GR.
All that being said - the grounds of the Richland winery are lovely - great lawn, lawn seating, nice winery inside albeit a bit dark.
There you have it - hope the wine flights and wine are WAY better....otherwise GR is simply...
Read moreWe have been wine club members here for a little over 2 years. Found Goose Ridge originally in Leavenworth, but come more often to the Woodinville location due to convenience.
The staff is always helpful and very friendly to us. They can get busy, just like every other tasting room. By now we've probably visited more than 20 in Woodinville. I haven't found Goose Ridge to be any busier, but the staff is always nice.
Their wine is excellent too. Not cheap. Expect to pay between $35-$50 per bottle, depending on what you're getting. If you aren't tasting their reserve wines, I think you're not getting the full spectrum. Now, we were very accustomed to California wines, coming from Sonoma, and Goose Ridge was the first winery that really stood out to us, and got us to appreciate Washington Wines.
Give them a try. You'll be...
Read moreCame here with a group of 6 friends, we all bought the Living Social coupon to get 2 for 1 tastings and had a blast on a sunny Saturday afternoon! Ariel (our sommelier) was hilarious, knew her wine, and very personable. I think between six of us, we went home with about a dozen bottles of wine. I chose to taste all of their reds, and was not disappointed with their cab and noir. The others were ho-hum, but you can't expect to like them all. Overall a great experience, everything was clean, and it's in the middle of a strip mall with other tasting rooms, a Mexican joint, and a tapas bar. Our group also got to try some of their delicious dessert wine... a nectar of the Gods, no doubt! This is a great place to stop for a mellow...
