I have a great espresso machine at home, but there are mornings when I just need someone else to make me coffee—and when I do, I go to Tarte.
There’s a barista there who is phenomenal—they’re all good, but she stands out. After weeks of not stopping in, she remembered my order. Not only that, she had it ready for me before I reached the front of the line. She’s fast, works solo during busy mornings, and still makes one of the best decaf cortados I’ve had anywhere.
And while you’re waiting for your coffee? You get to browse a shop full of beautifully curated, one-of-a-kind things. There’s always something new—something clever or beautiful or unexpected. You can tell someone behind the scenes has a real eye.
The food? Equally special. You can see the bakers working in the kitchen—there’s something really grounding and wonderful about that. Everything feels made with care, from the ingredients to the presentation.
And the people? That’s where Tarte really shines. One time, I left my wallet behind. I was flying out early the next morning and panicked when I realized it after they’d closed. I called the restaurant next door (same owners), and a staff member there went way above and beyond—tracking down the shift crew, finding where it had been stashed for safekeeping, and meeting me after hours to return it. He even refused a tip. That kind of kindness and trustworthiness is rare—and says so much about the culture this place has built.
This is more than just a coffee shop or bakery. It’s a business that cares—about its coffee, its food, its people, and its customers. Tarte has heart,...

Walked up to a sign on the door stating that the espresso machine was down, which was half the reason for our visit.
Paid for a drip instead, which took around five minutes to arrive. Was given half a cup of the dregs and told I would receive a fresh one when a new batch was brewed. The god awful taste had me dreaming of a k cup at home, which I’m very much enjoying now. Lower that bar and hey, what’s not really that good seems….pretty great!
Sticky pecan bun served cold, had to ask for it to be warmed up. It was decent at least.
Well I never did receive that fresh cup as I presume it takes much longer to brew a whole new pot of drip than for me to have a pastry.
This place is messing up what could be solid in more ways than I care to mention here. Waste of my time and money. I’ll stick to the cinnamon roll stand from now on or even McDonald’s. Sorry...
Read moreWent here for breakfast with a friend and we were both a bit disappointed — I had veggie quiche (good, but small portion for the price and the sliced root veg (potato?) in the quiche was undercooked) and a stone fruit galette (again, the fruit was not cooked through so didn’t have the caramelization or texture I’d expect) and my friend’s grilled cheese sandwich initially came out with the bread not hot and the cheese barely melted. Staff were friendly and helpful and rectified the sandwich situation, but the food didn’t live up to our expectations. Maybe it was just an off day? Overall it’s a sweet spot and the store stocks a lot of local goods, which is great. Side note that the pie dough was different than I’m used to; less rich, as it seemed to have little if any butter — it was good, just...
