Man, this is a tough review. I LOVE the coffee here. I LOVE the convenience. I LOVE the owners/CEOs of the shop, they're really generous men. But if there is one thing that I don't like it's one of the baristas. If she doesn't hear your drink order, when you go to correct her she will give attitude, ("UHM, OKAY") then be overly fake nice ("Have a GREAAAAT day!" heavy sarcastic tone). It's a COFFEE, it doesn't come with, or need to come with, a side of sass. I can't take off a whole star from this review though, because that just wouldn't be an accurate representation of the shop as a whole.
The reason Brew on the Grid gets 5 stars from me is their NITRO cold brew. Their normal cold brew is frequently sold out by the time I come in (~8:30am), so I had been just ordering a normal iced coffee. That is, until today. I got their NITRO cold brew, and let me tell you, it was INCREDIBLE. BEST coffee I've ever had, hands down, no competition. I don't know if it was just the mixed in nitrogen I liked so much, or if it was the combo of the NITRO and hazelnut flavoring, but it was 10/10 BOMB.
Summary: One rude barista doesn't ruin the bunch, the rest of the baristas are professional and polite. Try the NITRO cold brew, but don't try all of it because I love it too much for it to be...
Read moreI decided not to have coffee and breakfast in my hotel because the coffee shop was across the street. I need my coffee to set my vibe as it starts my day but what a mistake this one. First up the staff look miserable to a level that that I felt uncomfortable so I knew what was coming next. I ordered the sausage egg breakfast bagel but I asked for the New York bagel because on their advertisement board it states New York bagel $1.50 extra. He asked me what was the New York bagel and he says do you mean just a normal bagel? I’m like well I guess so. I asked for two large Americanos with cream. The girl who gave me the Americano filled it up to the top so I said I need to put cream in but she still filled. Then there was no cream at the normal customer service station so I asked her to put cream in and she says I may not be able to fit cream in. Anybody else would’ve emptied some out and put cream in but no she attempted to fill it to the neck with cream. Which means carrying the coffee to my hotel covered my hands and my coat on scalding hot coffee and also the coffee spilled into the bagel below so I cannot review the bagel because it was soaked in coffee. I wish I could review the coffee, but there was not enough cream in it and having no cream available to fill it myself. I will not let this destroy my day, but I hope this review prevent it from destroying other...
Read moreAbout a 10 minute walk from the courthouse and across the street from city hall, so it is well located for a break. I wish I had tried the bagels, but I didn’t realize they had hot options, so I went for the pumpkin pie as a snack. The pie was good. The pastries looked like they had better days although perhaps they had fresh ones outside of the display case, which would have been good to try. On another occasion, I’ll give a breakfast sandwich a try. I wish they had simple syrup for sweetening the coffee and fresh cream and milk options to adjust one’s coffee to taste. I ordered a latte just the way I like it, so I don’t need all of these options, but I did notice there weren’t any set out. Also there were no washable silverware, so you only had the option of plastic forks and spoons that were pretty flimsy and not ideal for sitting in. It is great for take-out, though.
The main thing about this spot if you’re ordering in is the coffee to order and the ample and varied seating areas. It looks like a good place to sit and work for a while as it is calm, and it also has plenty of seating to have a conversation or a meal. Modern and comfortable furnishings. Big windows looking out...
