I had high hopes for this place... but at the end of the day, this place is a wanna be Wagamama's... with distasteful food and mgmt...
As my wife and I were seated, we had a little hesitation of staying because the establishment was very cramped, and social distancing was not really a thing when we got there, but our stomachs were craving food so we stayed. Our waitress was nice throughout our experience, but when we decided to order the "kongo", a large rice bowl, she advised us against it as it was a "big plate" and would take a considerable amount of time (25 mins). This ended up only being about 7-8 mins in reality, but the encounter was strange to begin with, and may point to the reason as to why our food tasted so awful..
When the food arrived, the waitress put on a show for us, stirring our food in front of us with all the assorted meats and mostly rice (I can't stress enough on how much rice was in this bowl and hardly any meat for the meal's $60 price tag ) within the meal. Hungry as ever, Wifey and I dug right in, and I kid you not, the meat, particularly the pork/steak/chicken tasted VERY spoiled & rotten. We flagged down our waitress to address the issue, who commiserated with us, and contacted mgmt to allow us to express our concern. I made sure to express that we by no means had no ill intentions whatsoever in contacting mgmt, and that we simply just wanted a decent meal. Mgmt, however, felt differently, saying that it was "special" poultry and questioned if we've had this type of food before.. really.. are you serious..? Not that we looked for any accommodation, but they wouldn't offer any type of discount, but instead offered desert, which we politely declined.
Leaving the establishment still hungry and upset, I can confidently say that I highly do not recommend this place to anyone, unless you're looking for a subpar experience food wise, and only want some pricey cocktails. I can't speak to their ramen choices, which I hope are better, but after our experience, we will not be going here ever again. Do NOT get their rice bowls, you will get their left over spoiled meat and be ultimately...
Read moreI watched a review of this place on YouTube and was very excited to visit this local eatery for my close friends birthday. It was during the work week so we just went to have a great night, got to the host stand before 5 pm saw open tables that where not cleaned and was told we needed a reservation and it would be an 2 hr and 30 min wait-we was fine with that and left but got all the way back to my house and checked on OPEN TABLE for a reservation and there was four or five open slots after we had just left with the first reservation for 5 mins after we left. We returned with a reservation and spoke with the same women that claimed to be the manger and explained the situation, she went online and cleared all the slots we were showing her that where open on our phones, she explained that OPEN TABLE “the app”reservations are not live, and asked us “DO YOU SEE ANY OPEN TABLES” and we pointed them out yes we do see open tables- we was turned away at the door. We walked out And I decided to go back in and ask for the manager or owner’s number so I can express my displeasure of the treatment I received from this manager/host And was given the number to the restaurant while she laughed and joked about the situation to one of the servers there as I walked in the door. Point is this WAS a place I would have liked to spend my money at but after this experience I will never spend a dollar there , the manger could have handled that situation knowing that there were paying customers in front of her with open tables way better than she did. I did ask to speak to the owner she gave me the number to the restaurant and told me the owner would be in the next day, I called the owner was not available I know this is a lot to read but bottom line is we had a GREAT DINNER and good a time for my friends birthday anyway at another local establishment and I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody the host/manager is unprofessional and I will never be returning to CHA SHU. Thanks...
Read moreHad high hopes from the moment we stepped in. We visited for the 4 Course VDay Dinner. Our server warned us there would be a slight stagger to the dishes because the Kitchen was working so diligently so Course 1 & 2 would be entered at the same time and could come out in either order, we understood and appreciated the heads-up, there are some things outside of your control. Much to our disappointment however someone had dropped the ball. I received Course 2 first, not a big deal we were warned, but about 15-20 minutes later someone approached to confirm whether I had even received my First Course, I let him know I hadn’t, he apologized, said it’d be right out and walked away. About 10-15 minutes later the same gentleman drops my Course 3.. still no Course 1. It’s about an hour into sitting down and still haven’t been given the First Course as I watch other patrons receive their meals in Order without issue. Much to my chagrin it takes 15-20 minutes after receiving course 3 which at that point I hadn’t touched, to receive the first course.. Finally, the Long awaited First course! Consisting of 3 Tiny pieces of Beef and a heaping helping of Dressing… Not keen on that but will admit it was flavorful. Course 3 was tasty but probably would have been best fresh from the kitchen. The food was good, but the execution lacked and so it did detract from the dining experience as a whole. I thought maybe the Restaurant may acknowledge the significant inconveniences over the dinner, aiming to ensure a quality customer experience, but they did not. With the Bill paid, despite the experience, our server was Tipped, she was really nice to us and what happened didn’t reflect them specifically. They have since last night, apologized and expressed a miscommunication had occurred somewhere along the way. Might give them another shot at a later date, first time...
