We came in on New Years Eve with a large party. This review would have 5 starts, as the food was AMAZING, but the service was abysmal. The amount of money it costs to go to this restaurant, especially with a party of nine, this was a massive let down. First, our server barely smiled upon greeting us, and we immediately noted the giant chip he seemed to have on his shoulder. Then someone in our party asked what the well tequila brand was. I kid you not, the server laughed and choked out, "I dont know.... well?" I tried to explain and noted that the bartender should be able to help and he essentially told us he wasnt going to ask. She ended up hating it but forced it down as the server did not seem to care and we honestly were nervous to say anything based on his attitude. The rest of the night went about the same, total disregard on proper customer service and acting like he was a total bother to wait on us. Drinks took 15-20 minutes, even as the place was emptying out. We went to elementary school with the chef and just asked if he could tell him we say hi. He said, "yeah I'm not gonna do that" and walked away. Then he made the chef come out, during the busy rush! We in no way wanted this, and did not expect asking him to just mention we said hi to be such an issue. It was pretty awkward and again, full of total attitude. We had to flag him down to finally ask for the checks. About 10 minutes go by and our server walks by our table, no checks and we dont see him for another 15 minutes. We end up asking another random server if she can get our check. She finds them sitting at the server station and brings them to us. Our actual server comes back some time later and says, "oh, you got your checks? Well did you make sure they're correct?" In a total attitude! At this point, we'd been there for 3 HOURS. Most of that time was waiting for our server to remember he was taking care of us. I've worked in the restaurant business for many years, and I would NEVER allow such terrible, rude service in my establishments. We spent a LOT of money here, and the server knew he was going to get a great tip from our table. The way he treated us completely ruined our dinner there and left us with a terrible taste in our mouths regarding the Yardley Inn. We definitely wont be back again, and I would not recommend going there after...
Read moreI have lived in Yardley for 54 years and have been to the Yardley Inn multiple times. Last night my wife wanted to take her father there to celebrate his 80th birthday. She made reservations weeks in advance and notified them at the time that this was a special occasion and requested to have a table in the main room that looks at the river. My wife's father has trouble hearing and from countless experiences we knew that this room was a bit quieter than the banquet room which is adjacent to the bar. When we arrived, we checked in and were told that they could not accommodate our request. Next, one of the women managing the hostess station complained to the other that she did have enough menus, rolled her eyes and then proceeded to walk into the banquet hall without addressing us personally. We were perplexed. I stopped and turned to the other hostess to tell her about our request. She simply said we are too busy. We ended up in the banquet room, where the sound level was so high we could not even talk to each other without shouting. The waiter came to our table and stated that he was sorry for having to shout at us, but he would have to for us to hear anything. He took our drink orders and we waited at least 20 minutes and still nothing was served. We attempted to have conversation at the table, but it was impossible. Seeing how this night was going to turn out, we decided to leave. This is a place that touts itself as fine dining in Yardley. All I saw from this experience was, let's see how many people we can jam into a room, the presentation of the food being served at the tables around us (or should I say from the tables that were on top of us) looked sloppy and rushed and they could care less if it's a special occasion. This was extremely disappointing considering my father-in-laws milestone birthday and the lack of care and customer service we received. Please note that the waiter was great and understanding why we were leaving. He was the only person to treat us...
Read moreIt was been about 7-8 months since I had been here and previously and always had a good experience. This review does not reflect on the service or the atmosphere, but only on the food and price. My wife and I were entertaining a friend from out of town and visiting the historical sites in the area, Washington Crossing, Bowmans Tower etc, and decided to have lunch at the Yardley Inn as it was on our way back. We had made a reservation the evening before and were seated immediately, and drinks taken right away. We ordered 1 old fashioned, 2 sangrias and 2 Moscow mules, calamari app and 2 Ceasar salads one with salmon and one with shrimp, and one roasted chicken salad and one soup du jour, and fried calamari. The prices were very high, but didn’t mind paying as the food was always very good in the past. The calamari was not presented well, just tossed on a plate with a very spicy sauce (not mentioned on the menu) it was “ok” at best. The soup was flavorless, my guest had one taste and set it aside (was charged and paid for though not eaten) the lettuce in the salads were on par with bagged salads you get at Giant, perhaps 5 croutons in the Ceasar salads, the salmon was dry and over cooked, the shrimp was ok but at $13 more, I expected more than 3… that’s $4.33 a shrimp? The roasted chicken was very dry, needed a drink of water after each bite to swallow.
To close, I can say that the $177.00 check was not worth the meal that was served. I would like to say that the staff and service was very good but I hope this was an isolated occurrence and that the food is much better...
