Ordered my husband a chocolate flurry with Butterfinger and Reese's pieces on Saturday, August 16, 2025-and got myself a chocolate sundae with peanut butter sauce. Total came to $10.01
As I rifled through my purse for the penny, the two girls just stood there waiting on that one cent. Most places would have said don't worry about it. But hey, I get it, I do owe the $10 bucks plus the penny.
I paid with a $20 bill and they gave me a $10 bill back. Which is fine, but I'm kind of surprised they did not hand back a $5 bill with 5 singles, as that's how you smartly give back change in an industry where gratuity is common.
I'm glad they did not as the following is what really irked me.
I got back to the car and my husband and I started eating our ice cream and my husband said he did not taste the Butterfinger.
I took it back to the girls who were working and they literally told me it's in there and did not offer to add any or make a new ice cream. I took the ice cream back to the car and my husband finished it. I asked him was there any Butterfinger and he said there was not one piece of it.
You have to love it when someone else is just going to TELL you what you're tasting or not.
These girls were snobby, obviously don't know how to give change in a smart way to receive gratuity (nobody is going to tip you a $10 bill when that is all you give back, most cases) and they had no regard for customer satisfaction.
But the thing is they did not give a damn about the minor complaint I had and were very dismissive. It was now NO LONGER about the missing topping, it was now about how we were treated and the tone and demeanor they had.
Some may find it petty complaining over a missed topping for an ice cream, but this is OUR money that we worked hard for.
I'm sure these girls are family to the owner who is a big fan of MSU, and he is usually fantastic, but this experience was really crappy.
After visiting Ice Cream Time for MANY years, we are done after this experience.
You can go anywhere and get treated like crap, but we certainly did not expect it...
Read moreMy best friend, her doggo Zeus, and I absolutely LOVE this place! It's our favorite summertime ice cream shop and we look forward to opening day every year! The strawberry shortcake flurry is hands down the best flurry I've ever had. The vanilla ice cream is so yummy you can eat it by itself. Move over DQ, it's Ice Cream Time for the win! Don't forget to take your pup and get an ice cream cone with a Milkbone on top! Did I mention that the owner is awesome too? He's so friendly and you can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does. We won't go anywhere else (unless we go up north and then we don't have a choice haha)!
Oh and P.s. to the person who came here in WINTER and was mad the place was closed up like fort Knox, not all ice cream shops are open year round. Was that not obvious to you? Common sense, not so common these days...
Read moreI remember going to ice cream time when I was a kid and it hardly seems to have changed in the past 20 years - not that that's a bad thing!
They have soft serve and hard packed ice cream served up in cones, cups and bowls with all the usual candy and nut toppings. They have a bunch of tables and benches underneath an awning so even if it starts to rain, you can still relax and enjoy your ice cream.
My only complaint is how close to the busy road that stand is. Sometimes, when the traffic is especially busy, you can hardly taste anything but car exhaust. That's not ice cream time's fault though, so I still give...
