First off, I want to acknowledge that our visits to this particular Hideaway have been "meh" at best. Typically it's okay. Not bad. But not great. My wife is one of those picky people who ALWAYS requests extra sauce, yet rarely receives it. This place has had to remake every single pizza of hers, every single time.
However. This visit? Above and beyond.
We ordered delivery through a third-party delivery service as neither of us wanted to leave once we got home. This is the same third-party service we use regularly. Granted, it is hit-or-miss most times, but I digress.
We ordered two pizzas: one small with hamburger, red onion, and bbq sauce; one medium with hamburger and I quote, "extra heavy red sauce". Our order was placed and delivered within an hour or so. I opened my box, (the small), and it looked fine. Opened wife's box, and wouldn't ya know it? Completely wrong. It was cheese on very light bbq sauce. Nothing like we wanted. I opened the app and compared it to the receipt. I wasn't crazy - I DID order what she wanted... but what was on the receipt was NOT correct.
I sent the thingy about having an issue with my order to the third-party service, but we went ahead and called the restaurant anyway.
The young lady who we spoke with was very kind and explained that they are not affiliated with the service but she remembered our order because a woman ordered it, but then called back to cancel. Huh? We are looking at our pizzas so I explained a man dropped it off but it was incorrect, yada yada. I just wanted to make them aware. Then she tells me that our pizzas are actually there. Our CORRECT pizzas. So she says she's going to have me speak to the manager. Manager gets on the line, I explain it, and I asked if I can just come get the correct one, which I will pay for, we just want dinner at this point and it's already made... she offers to remake it for FREE. That was totally unexpected but so considerate of them.
TL;DR - Hideaway made an issue right that wasn't on them. I appreciate the customer service they showed this...
Read moreIt was a Wednesday night at about 7:00 they were still busy and had to wait. It was probably because of the holiday. The bartender was busy as heck just trying to keep up they looked short-staffed and exhausted so I was patient with them even though they took a long time to get our order and check. Went to our table. The waitress Alexis was really nice and did a great job. We both ordered the medium pizza, so we could have leftovers. My wife got some chicken with pesto and added sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts Pizza. I got a pizza with Pepperoni, sausage, red onion, olives and green pepper. I didn't know that their "go-to" sausage in an Italian restaurant would be breakfast sausage on pizza. It makes absolutely no sense to do it the way they do it. Next time I'll know to order the Italian sausage. That's the only reason they don't get the fifth star because they were stupid to put breakfast sausage on a traditional Italian pizza. My wife and I stopped in at Hideaway for dinner before going to a movie. I've eaten at Hideaway many times in the past and I'm sure I'll have to eat there many more in the future, but it is never anywhere I would choose to go. The food is mediocre at best and everything is over priced. The only reason this a four star review instead of a one star review is one person... Abby, the saving grace of the restaurant. The hostess sat us in the bar area and Abby was the bartender/our waitress. She is wonderful. She was polite and very good at her job. We told her we were tight on time and asked what we could order to make our show time. She said we could order whatever we wanted and she would make sure we got it in time. She came through on her promise. That was the fastest I've ever received my food at that place. Still not good food, but that isn't Abby's fault.
