Great food, great tea, great staff. These 6 words are the best description of Tao Cha. I went in today after having lost my voice and these ladies were just so sweet about it! They didn't seem irritated by my pointing and whispering and seemed genuinely concerned about my lack of voice.
I ordered the Orange Chicken from the lunch menu which also comes with your choice of soups. It's such a large portion, that I also have lunch for tomorrow! I also ordered the Angel Mist Falls tea and I have to tell you, they serve their hot tea in the absolute cutest way possible! The teapot, tea cup, and saucer are clear. The sugar cubes look like quartz crystals and are served in a little cup and saucer with a rose gold spoon.
I just love this place. I really do.
EDIT: Unfortunately, I have to edit my review. I've been 3 times in the last two weeks and gotten service once. The first time, my group and I (3 of us) were seated and waited 20 minutes with no one ever acknowledging us so we left. The next time, it was just two of us and we got the service I'm used to. Today, there were 4 of us. They weren't busy when we walked in. We ordered and got our soups quickly. Then one of our meals came out, then another, then...nothing. Finally, after being there for almost 40 minutes, I informed the only person I could find that the remaining orders needed to be "to go." Usually this is a signal to someone that something is wrong. We had to ask once more where our order was. We had to ask twice for the check for the two people who did get their food. Finally, we asked for a manager and she blamed how busy they were. Keep in mind, there were two other tables when we sat down. Every other table that got there after us with the exception of the one who hadn't ordered yet got their food. We were told too many people ordered orange chicken. Yet, those orders were taken to people who ordered after us.
So word of advice...If there's more than 2 of you, don't go; they can't handle it. If there's more than 2 tables already sat, just turn around; they're too busy. If you and someone else in your party are ordering orange chicken, leave; they get too many orders for it. Of course, if you have more than an hour to kill on a random Thursday, these suggestions don't apply, but if you're trying to fit this on your lunch...
Read moreI lived in Yukon for years and this was our restaurant of choice at least every 2 weeks. Pre-COVID we dined in all the time and love the owners, Sarah and her husband. I moved away in May and was back in town this past weekend and was excited to get Tao. Well...I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. I ordered the Vegetable Shrimp with garlic sauce on the side and fried wontons (crab rangoon). First, the price has gone up (expected) and the portions are half of what they use to be. The box was so small. The guy who answered the phone wasn't knowledgable at all and confusing and just out right guessing on the menu items. Now to the taste: The vegetable shrimp was good although the garlic sauce didn't taste the same. Something was off on the taste. The crab rangoons...how can I put it? Well they were horrible. They were all wonton and the filling (the very small amount in there) had no flavor and salty. I thought it was me at first but after the second one I was like "Nope, can't eat these". The warm red sauce (sweet & sour) was probably the worse of everything. It wasn't thick, bright colored and sweet as usual. It was very watered down (light orange color) and very salty. I tasted it with my finger and I threw it in the trash along with the $6.95 crab rangoons. I'm not sure if they've changed owners, cooks or what but this is not the same TAO Cha that I've been use to over the years. I can't believe that I'm giving them 2 stars because before they would definitely get over 5 stars but what kind of loyal customer would I be if I wasn't honest. One thing is I don't mind paying for food but I want it to be good. Coming back to town for a couple more weekends this month and it saddens me that TAO Cha won't be my restaurant of choice. Like I said, I really like Sarah and her husband and don't want to offend anyone but please go back to your recipes. Thank you and...
Read moreWow! This place really suprised me with how awesome it is! First off, the drink menu is two pages long and the drinks are so unique and tasty. You can get almost any of the drinks with boba, which adds these very sweet tapioca balls to your drink. Each drink comes sealed and you poke a hole through the pstic top with your very large straw. My wife got a strawberry slush and I got a milk thai tea with the boba pearls. The straws are large enough to get a boba pearl through there every couple of sips. Both drinks were very tasty! We also got the wonton appetizer and the spring roll appetizer. The spring rolls are ok, but the wontons are extremely tasty with a cream cheese sauce and a flaky exterior. My wife got a chicken and mushroom entree and I got the spicy Mongolian beef entree, both were really good and very large portions. We both had to get a box to take the rest home for breakfast in the morning. Something great about their entrees is that the portion is heavy on the entree more than the rice. I've been to some places where they load them up with rice and some foid on the top, but this you get a tiny bowl of rice to go with your large entree. I've only been here once, but it was a date-night win for my wife and I. Update: My wife and I have now been here three times and it has been...
