Let me start by saying that if I could rate this place no stars, I absolutely would.
My husband and I came here recently and they refused to seat us because it was past 7pm and they said 7pm was the last time they let people in. We came back two days later a bit before 6:30pm and they tried to refuse us entry again. We mentioned we had been there and were told 7pm was the latest they would seat someone and after going back and forth for a bit, they agreed to let us in but said we could only sit outside because of Covid. We said OK and were the only people seated outside.
As we sat there, we noticed the inside was full of white and blonde people. My husband and I are an interracial couple and we are a bit darker skinned than the locals so our treatment felt very unfair and uncalled for. As we sat, another brown skinned couple came for a table around 7pm and they were refused entry. Closer to 8pm a white couple came for a table and they were quickly escorted to a table inside.
Why can white people come eat here past 7pm when everyone else is refused entry? Why aren’t brown people allowed to sit inside at this restaurant??? Talk about racial segregation.
From the very beginning, the hostess was extremely rude and pretentious with us, even after we were seated she kept giving us dirty looks every time she walked by. Our waiter also very clearly did not want to serve us. We were treated as if we could not afford anything on the menu. In all my years, he is definitely in the top two worse waiters I’ve ever had in the world.
Anyway, we ordered drinks and several dishes. The food was underwhelming and for those prices, our expectations were much much higher. My husband’s side dish of mashed potatoes tasted like those nasty powder mashed potatoes from a box - they were actually inedible but the chef said that’s how they’re supposed to taste and refused to replace with another side dish. I’ve been to some of the best restaurants in Los Angeles, New York, Milan, and Dubai and I have never been served something so nasty.
I am absolutely shocked at the high rating this restaurant has with their blatantly racist treatment of customers and total absence of customer service. Their only saving grace is a young waiter who was very kind to us - maybe he could train the rest of the staff on how to be kind and polite to customers.
Would not recommend this racist restaurant to absolutely anyone. We will...
Read moreWe were invited for a birthday party to this Basilic restaurant and it was my 2nd visit here since 2012 I guess )) I was much impressed with place. The service is fast and efficient. The meals they served were excellent and delicious. I really liked everything I had tasted. There were too many salads so I rejected the 2nd course, but the host insisted and ordered some fishes which tasted amazing. The live music band that played that day was superb. They sang several languages songs and most were hit song. So people just went on dancing, despite no dancing are apart from the aisles. Quite expensive though…I can’t have my birthday here and probably even if I can won’t )) Anyway, good restaurant with excellent service and quality...
Read moreThis was one of the restaurants I had chosen before we arrived in Tashkent as it looked like a safe option before immersing ourselves in Uzbek culture.
The courtyard we sat in was beautifully decorated and illuminated and had a pleasant atmosphere. The menu looked excellent and I ordered veal with porcini mushrooms and Deb had duck marget with pear and mixed berry confit and then we shared rosemary potatoes, steamed seasonal vegetables and sauteed spinach. Dessert was chocolate fondant and apple strudel.
Service was pleasant and the setting delightful but you certainly paid for it. Although not pricey by European standards it cost way more than double any other meal we had on our...
