Extremely disappointing and overrated. Dining at May Tre Dan Restaurant was one of the most underwhelming experiences we’ve had in Hanoi. Despite its 5-star rating, the food was shockingly low in quality—clearly not made with fresh ingredients. When I asked the staff if the dishes were made from frozen or pre-prepared food, they openly admitted that the ingredients were indeed frozen and had been prepared the day before.

There was no depth of flavor in anything we ordered. Every dish tasted bland and lifeless, completely lacking the vibrancy and freshness that Vietnamese cuisine is known for. The presentation was sloppy, and nothing looked or felt refined, despite the upscale setting.

Service was also a letdown—slow, inattentive, and disorganized. We waited over 20 minutes just for a glass of iced tea. The staff seemed distracted and not particularly interested in providing a good dining experience.

It’s frustrating that such a prime location inside a high-end hotel is being wasted on a restaurant that clearly prioritizes appearances over substance. It feels misleading for tourists, who may believe they’re getting a high-end Vietnamese experience based on location and inflated ratings.

Honestly, the prices here are outrageous for the kind of food they serve. This was street food at best—but without the charm, flavor, or authenticity.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant that left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and a perfect balance of elegance and comfort. It was the kind of place that made you feel right at home while promising a culinary adventure.

The menu was thoughtfully curated, offering a range of dishes that catered to all tastes. I started with a creamy tomato bisque that was rich and full of flavor—an excellent way to begin the meal.

The service was impeccable throughout. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly, which added to the overall experience.

If you’re looking for a place that combines excellent food, a cozy atmosphere, and exceptional service, this is it. I left feeling satisfied and already planning...

We ate here several times during our stay in the hotel, every time we came, we ordered something new, and so far all the food met our expectations. The restaurant is super clean, service is always fast, never once did we feel like we waited super long for anything. Staff will always inform us how long roughly they'll take to prepare our food and so on.

I know the pictures i post don't do justice to describe how tasty their food is. But trust me, this place will pamper you, you'll feel at home. Also shout out to Tom and Keith for always cater to our needs, they're so communicative and attentive to details. Tom also helps me with things like where to go and what to do in Hanoi. We were pleased.
