Tadka 2 Indian Restaurant Hanoi — Restaurant in Hà Nội

The place itself is decent, but the service is extremely slow. I was particularly disappointed with a dish on the menu — Dalma, which is a beloved Odia comfort food. Unfortunately, what was served barely resembled the authentic dish. It was essentially dal tadka with just a couple of vegetables thrown in, which completely missed the essence of true Dalma.

When I raised this concern with the staff at the reception, I was told that the dish was added to the menu to reflect tradition, but that people here like it this way. When I explained that it wasn’t authentic and I had specifically come for that dish, I was told I should try another restaurant if I wanted a different version — a surprisingly dismissive and unprofessional response.

If you choose to include a traditional dish on your menu, you have a responsibility to honor its authenticity. Simply serving a version you think customers will like, without staying true to its roots, feels misleading. And when a customer gives you honest feedback, the appropriate response is to acknowledge it and strive to improve — not to act defensive or suggest they go elsewhere.

As per experience, the restaurant is located at a prime location. And it is easy and comfortable if you are tired and hungry. The ambiance was good and sitting was also comfortable (if you are tired). Whereas for the food, i ordered mutter methi malai with jeera rice, tawa roti (chapati), and tandoori roti. Zeera rice was great, rice was good basmati and was oiled perfectly. Give stars for zeera rice as per my experience. Tawa roti (chapati) was not as expected. It's mostly like the frozen chapatis as you get on your flight. Perfect not to order 1 star for the temperature of the chapati. Whereas butter tandoori roti was good as compared to tawa roti (chapati). 3 stars for tandoori roti. Methi matar malai was not even near to ok as it was bitter due to over methi and it also feels as if it was burnt in its beginning. Zero star. Service was a bit slow, maybe due to the over crowd.

But I feel taste is a matter of time and change with every slight change as time does.

Will try again some day and review again....

Awful experience!! Food poisoning at it it’s best! I never ever had ever been through something close to what I have been after we ate here. This food had to be so extremely bad. In fact 6 hours of straight vomiting and diarrhea. Than my husband starter and was in the bathroom for the rest of the night. Now … 2 days later we still feel exhausted and this morning I felt terrible again and my husband just had diarrhea again. This messed up our whole experience. We missed a day in Hanoi and the Cat Ba Cruise was just a mess for us. It ruined everything. We were looking so forward to these days. With any cheap food on the streets we were fine, but this was so expensive and we paid a lot more than just the price of the food. If we wouldn’t have left at 7 am the next morning what we barely could manage they would have seen me again to ask for the refund. Don’t go there!!!! I have a strong stomach.
