This is a very tough review to write because I have mixed emotions. 1st I’ll say the pictures on the booking apps are probably mock ups or from when the hotel was first built and don’t compare to now. ||I’m not going to complain about this hotel because it was really good for what I paid and Anna and Mia the receptionist are the best I’ve experienced even while staying in 5 star hotels. ||Okay, a few unraveling things. Repairs need to take place asap. The walls have water stains, not enough water in the toilets to fully flush once. You hear the water pipes anytime anyone in the hotel uses showers or flushes. The cleaning wasn’t horrible, but the remotes and cracks and crevices needed some dust removing and germ killing. I had asked for some Clorox wipes to clean a little myself and the language barrier made that a real challenge so I used a whole pack of baby wipes and just cleaned up myself. The breakfast had nice options but there were always ants on the plates. I pointed it out to the waitress. She would remove and wash the plates but put the same exact food back on. ||All the good stuff. ||Anna: went above and beyond for me. When I wanted the sheets changed, needed new wash clothes and towels, required ice, required a grab, required medicine, required ice she got it done. This lady was so awesome so personally would leave the front desk and walk me to the stores and pharmacy, provided translation and found a way to get rid of old bills. This alone could make me overlook anything negative about this hotel. It actually changed my demeanor and what was feeling like the twighlight zone turned into focusing on the positives. I will return to this hotel again if I need a budget friendly option. ||Mia: set the same expectations as Anna. She would pay for my grab rides with her own credit card, she walked me to the breakfast location, got the beds changed on demand, provided translation at the pharmacy when I had to return again for my son. ||I’m torn that I with a clear conscious to report any negatives at all, but it’s important that people understand when you book this spot it’s because the staff are the best at making the absolute best out of it for you. ||In the Spirit of the excellent staff, I want to write that this boutique is also perfectly located. I was able to literally walk to many great attractions and there are so many...
Read moreThis hotel has a very innovative scam going on. The pictures they post of the hotel is not where we stayed, it is in another property that is located in the alley.
We know the hotel in the pictures is nicer because that is where we had to go eat breakfast. This company seems to prey on Canadians (as we are polite and generally quite passive and compliant by nature). The way they executed the scam is they offer to pick you up at the airport for a very low fee (after you've flown for 17+ hours) and take you directly into the alley location.
When you get into the lobby they ask for your credit card and then before showing you the room get you to prepay for the fee in Vietnamese Dong so you can't figure out they overcharge you by about $100 from what they advertised on the website.
We thought we were paying $179 CAD for the "good hotel". We ended up after figuring out the conversion we paid $330 CAD.
When we went to inquire to front desk of the hotel about all this and no one could speak english. We stayed as we had no other immediate option and it were exhausted. We decided not to let this experience taint our month long Vietnam trip and now that we are back home I'm writing this review.
I would not recommend booking at this hotel until they get more ethical with how they treat all guests. As they were so slick with how they scammed us I'm sure they've done this before.
The only good thing I can say about the 2nd location is it is actually in the old town of Hanoi. Too bad the property they advertised actually looked nice. Just be careful how they bill you if you decide to...
Read moreChecked out a couple of days ago. This hotel makes you write a positive review, while watching you, before they allow you to leave in a cab. The front desk will offer you a free $18 taxi ride in exchange for an “excellent” review. Mr. Chin sits there and watches you and then adds his own and Anna’s to the review. We felt forced to do this because it can be difficult to get a cab on your own without being scammed or yelled at. The front desk staff are friendly, but can be overwhelmingly so at times. The hotel photos are a lie and have to be from when the hotel first opened...years ago. The room had black mold all over the walls, ceiling, fans/AC unit, in the bathroom. The wall paper was falling off the walls. The balcony was covered in trash on the roof of it and often sounded like it could fly off with the right amount of wind. The bed was stiff, the pillows decent. There are was only a sheet to cover up with, so it could get cold. The door appeared as if it had been broken into before as the lock chain hinge was splintered. The bathroom door did not stay closed, had to keep it closed with the trashcan. The AC worked well, when it did it work, which was infrequent. The bath/shower water was intermittent with cold and hot water...you had to shower quick because it was either scalding or freezing cold. The bathroom was severely outdated; there were holes in the walls and the tub was just scary. The photos are impressively deceiving. Not...
