During my stay in Hanoi, I visited Taj Indian Restaurant for lunch on both days, and each time I chose their Egg Biryani. I must say, it came very close to the taste of authentic Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, which was a delightful surprise. The rice was flavorful, the spices were well-balanced, and the overall preparation carried that familiar aroma and depth you’d expect from traditional Indian biryani. For someone who has tasted Hyderabadi biryani back home, this felt refreshingly close to the real thing.
The restaurant itself is clean, quiet, and well-kept, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s a good spot if you’re looking to enjoy a peaceful meal without much disturbance. The pricing is also reasonable, not overly expensive, which adds to the overall value.
One small downside I noticed is that the restaurant did not accept credit cards, which could be inconvenient for some travelers. Luckily, I had cash with me, so it worked out fine, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind when visiting.
Overall, this restaurant is a great option for Indian food lovers, especially if you’re craving a well-made biryani in a calm and...
Read moreWas craving Indian and this place was close to our hotel. I’m not sure if I’m used to a different style of Indian food but it seems the dishes I’m used to having in Seattle differed greatly here. We ordered malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, mango lassi, garlic naan and basmati rice. The mango lassi came out first. It was room temperature but the taste was fine. I think I got a few tiny strips of mango skin but it didn’t detract from the taste. The garlic naan was very good when it first came out but as we finished off our meal it became a bit doughy. I’d not run into this issue before with naan. The rice was standard basmati rice so there’s not much to comment on there. The chicken tikka masala differed from what I’m used to but was very good, would recommend ordering. The disappointment for me was the malai kofta. I ordered medium spice but it was 0 spice. Even my son who can’t handle black pepper couldn’t taste spicy from it. On top of this, the breaded potion inside was very bland. Tasted as if it was mostly breading with no other ingredients added inside it.
Overall I would say the food is good outside of...
