Colonel Eddie's Fried Chicken did not serve with Fries (Waiter has asked my choice, Maybe forget?) 2.It took us 20 min for waiting food on table. 3.The waiter and waitress were keeping chatting and could not find geust's requests. 4. The prices of food and milkshakes are higher than other restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City.
My advanced feedbacks after your team reply: It's a pity that you do not want to admit your mistakes and oversights. 1. Eddie's fried chicken dish is served with a choice of side, either fries and coleslaw or mashed potatoes and gravy. The waiter did say it to us. And then we had chosen Fries. Do you see any side on this photo? It did not come with the mashed potatoes and gravy or the fries. 2. Our entering restaurant time was am 08:59; the arriving table time was am 09:36. There was only 2 tables occupied by the guests at that time. We were 1 of these 2 tables. It took more than 20 minutes for making from scratch of two hamburgs & 2 fried breasts for 5-6 staffs in the kitchen. This is not satisfaction guarantee, not to mention so-called five-star experiences. 3. I got my ordering service after calling the waiters for many times. The other table is occupied by a kindly and talkative 82-years old elderly American man alone. I believed he has stayed for a long while. He looked like a frequent customer. When he want to talk about some celebrity and American heroes' photoes on the wall, the waiters were keeping chatting and laughing and a waitress answered his calling after many times of yelling. 4. I believe there are many cheaper-priced and valued restaurants supplying high-quality, freshly prepared meals, made-from-scratch items in Ho Chi Minh City. This city is full of good taste and gourmet food. Your waiter so-called big amount of food dish did not appeared on the photo I have shown. Originally, I do not expect this is a fast food restaurant. Maybe, this price is acceptable for foreign American but not for Local people or Asian. By the way, the 199k VND steakburger or cheese burger did not show its worthy value. Just like you can have the price of Banh Mi from 20K to 200K. The different expectation and information should be respected for future guests. THANKS for...

Will preface by saying I didn’t expect this place to get things exactly right- I have had banh mi here and pho that blew my mind and maybe ruined me forever outside Vietnam so I didnt have a crazy high bar like comparing this place to say Katz’s deli in nyc (keep reading for the Reuben debacle)
Overall Eddie’s is just mediocre even given that we are in asia. As a Vietnamese person wrote in their review: it was bland. Reminded me of the meme of the “sad white people food” trend that was viral in China. Mozzarella sticks eh, didn’t have much flavor neither the sticks themselves nor the marinara sauce; the cheese fries the actual fries were fine but the sauce was pretty tasteless.
Other things could sooo easily be fixed:
Reuben is the best example on that. I asked for half pastrami half corned beef which they wouldn’t do (it’s the same price, should have been a simple request). So ok, got corned beef. The sandwich itself was actually pretty good!! I was impressed and surprised to be honest. BUT the thousand island sauce was a travesty. There is no excuse to have screwed it up so badly: it’s literally ketchup, mayo & sweet relish. Nothing you can’t easily find or make here. Instead it was a weird brick red color and tasted kind of chipotle mustardy instead of that sweet crunch that is so key to the sandwich. Speaking of sweet the coleslaw was salty not sweet, another silly flop like why? At the price tag I expected way better :( and honestly those sweet flavors of sauce and slaw make the dish. They got the sandwich pretty right and that was the hard part, the meat especially so it was a huge bummer they screwed up sauce and an important side 😩
The biscuits and gravy I liked though fully agree with the reviewer who said it’s more like cornbread than a proper biscuit. The gravy was nice (am not a southerner so someone from the region might not be as forgiving).
Root beer float was good ditto Nutella shake.
I’m giving it 2* because it would take such minimal tweaks to make this place awesome. No way this place is run by someone from New York or if it is that person has lost...
Read moreEddie's New York Deli & Diner in Ho Chi Minh City is an absolute gem that captures the essence of New York dining right in the heart of Vietnam. As a proud New Yorker, I'm always skeptical when it comes to finding authentic eateries that truly represent the flavors and vibe of my hometown, but Eddie's managed to exceed all my expectations.
One of the standout features of Eddie's is their thoughtful consideration for vegetarians like myself. The presence of a separate vegetarian menu with an array of options was a delightful surprise. I couldn't resist indulging in their French toast breakfast platter, which was an absolute symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. Pairing it with a large, luscious strawberry milkshake was the perfect touch.
The veggie burger I ordered was a work of art, perfectly cooked to my request of well-done—a true rarity to find such attention to detail in a busy dining scene like Asia's. Each bite was a burst of fresh ingredients and savory goodness, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.
But what truly sets Eddie's apart is their involvement as corporate sponsors for VPW, a nod that resonated deeply with my fandom for wrestling. Discovering the world of VPW through the restaurant was a pleasant surprise, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to my dining experience.
Stepping into Eddie's, you're instantly transported to a unique blend of old-school charm and new-school vibes, creating an atmosphere that is both comforting and invigorating. Their commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction is truly commendable and evident in every aspect of their service.
I can't wait to return to Eddie's and delve into their New York Chinese food offerings—the promise of delving into another layer of authentic cuisine has me eagerly anticipating my next visit.
In summary, Eddie's New York Deli & Diner is a culinary haven that impresses on every level. From their diverse menu to their flawless execution and welcoming atmosphere, this establishment has earned its place as a must-visit dining destination in Ho...
