The prices here are definitely on the higher side, mostly because of the location. The restaurant itself isn’t very easy to spot, I was a little confused the first time I came, but luckily the security guard pointed me in the right direction. The food is decent. I usually see a piece of butter included with bread at other places, but here it’s charged separately, which was a bit unexpected. My friend and I ordered the Full English Breakfast, and on another visit I tried the grilled ribs and the eggs benedict—both were fine. One suggestion: please consider switching up the salad dressing. Something lighter and easier to enjoy, like sesame or passion fruit, would work much better than the current dressing (especially the one served with the ribs and in english full breakfastset). Overall, the higher prices come more from the space than from the food quality or flavor. If you’re looking for something truly special, this might not be the place. But the space is bright, with a nice view of the intersection and surrounding buildings perfect if you just want to chill and hang out with friends. The staff give off a slightly odd vibe not unfriendly, but not exactly comfortable either. I can’t quite put my finger on it. I’ll probably come back a few more times to see how I really feel about it.

Despite having bought Tartine’s pesto sauce probably a thousand times by now (if you haven’t tried it yet, you should. I love that it doesn’t leave a lingering garlic smell, which my partner hates, while the basil aroma really shines), today was one of the rare occasions I actually got to sit down at one of their locations to enjoy a meal. The Eggs Benedict was absolutely to die for. Even though I didn’t eat it right away, the eggs were still perfectly runny - no rubbery whites or eggy smell that cold eggs sometimes have. The hollandaise sauce was thick, silky, and buttery just the way it should be. I also had the pan-fried chicken breast, which pleasantly surprised me. It wasn’t dry at all - still reasonably juicy inside, which is rare for this cut. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience. Next time, I’m looking forward to trying their sourdough breads and letting my German partner be the judge. You know how Germans are when it comes to sourdough (or bread in general) 🤭

Mounted on the very top floor of Marakame Udon at the this iconic intersection, is this quaint, and oh so slightly rustic cafe and bistro that is well worth the climb. Tartine has a pretty extensive menu of French and Mediterranean dishes that seem delightfully out of place, and deliciously surprising for the area. At its heart it is a bakery with all the leavening goodies like crusty sourdough bread and crunchy baguettes, but a quick perusal of the menu brings you to another place altogether. Moulles, steak frites, salmon saffron beurre blanc, oh my! This is one of the only places I've found that serves shakshuka without the added flares to make it palatable to the local tongue. Bravo! And did I mention the seared duck breast with grape sauce? The vegetarian dishes are legit, high on flavor and execution. This is obviously a place to visit morning, noon, or supper time. The menu is quite extensive for a little o'l rooftop bistro.

Hidden gem with good food, but disappointing service. We discovered this restaurant by chance and were pleasantly surprised by the place, the quality of the food, and its excellent European-style coffee. Although we enjoy Vietnamese cafes, we occasionally appreciate having this option. However, despite the good food, the service left much to be desired. From our first visit, we noticed a lack of organization, though the experience was enjoyable thanks to the quality of the coffee. We returned a couple of times, and on our third visit, the barista was missing. He kept not showing up… They told us he would be there soon, but he didn’t appear until we had already finished our breakfast, leaving us without coffee, which is the most important part of breakfast for me. In the end, we decided to get up and pay. Meanwhile, two employees were doing nothing productive while we waited for the coffee, one of them ironing napkins, which added nothing to the customer experience. As a former restaurant owner, I find it hard to understand how not all employees know how to use the coffee machine, which is the simplest and easiest thing to do. I told them that I could do it myself because I have used that machine many times, but they just laughed. One detail that caught our attention was the table setting. Despite the care put into ironing the napkins, the cutlery wasn’t placed on them (which is typical in a restaurant of this category) but instead on plastic placemats cut into three pieces, dirty and worn, which completely clashed with the intention of paying attention to details. If they are going to take the time to iron the napkins, they should at least use them properly by placing them under the cutlery to ensure hygiene and a better presentation. It’s a shame because the food is really good. However, without improvements in service and attention to some basic details, the experience is overshadowed. I hope they correct these mistakes because the place has a lot of potential.

I am writing this review in the hope that they consider it as constructive feedback and make the necessary...

seeing others review, it seems like i came on a wrong day wrong time lol. cos tell me why the food and service was so terrifyingly bad.

i visited the cafe during tea break time and ordered their salad and mushrooms (they have them as sides options), along with 2 cocktails and their signature home brewed kombucha.

firstly, their salad and mushroom came DOSED with oil. like fr. and their menu did not state anything abt their oil dressing. hence, i clarified and kindly asked if its possible for a change. i was prepared to take no for an answer. but the waitress was impatient and annoyed (even tho we were literally the only customer in the store).

after the change, i tried the food and some dishes were grossly mediocre while others just have a weird after taste to it. only the pineapple jam tasted delightful.

overall would not recommend this place (or at least not during teatime lol) and i was super disappointed bc this was one of the cafe i wanted to visit in hcm.

also the only vegan pastries they did have when i visited was vegan...
