I note that there have been a multitude of negativity surrounding this place (refer to the 1star reviews and 2 for this place), however I must say this is a fun, unique experience that all 14 people that I came with really enjoyed.
As people who have done escape rooms previously, this was a fresh new idea that really allowed for good head to head competition between teams. We were divided into 3 groups of 4 and 1 group of 5, and then set about to conquer to rooms.
Some of the rooms definitely required some thinking, and there was a good variety between the thinking , skill and physical activity rooms that we really enjoyed.
Yes there is minimal or no story leading up to each room, but all felt different in their own way and there was always a room that we could go into and do, and never did we feel we had no more to do. Even speaking to the other groups later, there were rooms we didn’t get to do, but this just made us curious what room they didn’t and was a great topic of conversation.
Overall, I do agree that probably with 2 people or if you don’t do a “head to head” which other groups within your party the competitive factor is not there as much. There is a leaderboard but the best thing is beating ur other mates in the other team after your time ends that makes it extra fun.
Amazing team bonding experience and fun activity, and very well worth the money. Student discount don’t forget if u are a student!
Don’t be put off by the negative reviews on this plan, is definitely one to check out but best really for groups of 3-4 people who are in high school and above. A lot of the puzzles if have young kids or those in primary school, will find them quite challenging I feel.
Thanks for a fun night out Prison...
Read moreUnfortunately, our experience at Prison Island Brisbane was quite disappointing. My partner and I attended together and were aware that some rooms would be more challenging as they are designed for a minimum of three players. However, you can still participate easily with two players, just don't expect to receive the maximum amount of points available.
Several of the tactical rooms were confusing, and the instructions weren’t very clear. We were advised to bring a phone to scan for clues, but the clues provided were identical to the information on the door and didn’t actually assist with solving the tasks. Additionally, there were no staff available during the 90-minute session to ask for guidance or to report technical issues.
It was also frustrating that some rooms appeared “green” (meaning they were available), yet our fob wouldn’t open the door.
While some of the physical rooms were straightforward, a significant number seemed to have technical problems, which further impacted our experience. Upon arriving, we overheard staff mentioning an issue with the scuba room, but it would have been helpful if this and any other known issues were communicated to players beforehand.
We spent a considerable amount of time trying to understand the instructions in each room and determine when technical issues were occurring, which meant we were only able to complete 24 out of 35 rooms.
With clearer guidance, more reliable technology, and occasional staff check-ins, I think the experience could be much more enjoyable. If this was the case, I'd say the experience would be worthwhile and good...
Read moreI have been to probably 14 escape rooms and one set of Challenge Rooms at Chermside before. I was hoping this would be less challenge room style and more escape room style. It wasn't. 35 rooms(cells) with challenges. We are pretty cluey with the set ups and premises of these rooms and some of the rooms were fun, some average, many didn't make sense whatsoever, some impossible. Overall, I wish we hadn't wasted the money and just gone to an escape room. So many of these rooms had no instructions or details. On checking in, we were told to put all items in the lockers, including phones, we had a briegibg and then headed upstairs where we were told if a cell doesn't make sense, to scan the QR code outside for instructions.... with what?! Or ask a member of staff. We saw one member of staff the whole time we were upstairs. Many of the good rooms, people kept re-playing and re-playing and not coming out, so we missed out on some rooms. There was no order and if people chose to, they could continually scan on to the same room and so people could spend the full 90 minutes staying in the one cell. It would be better that if you had been in a cell two or three times maybe, to be denied entry and move people on. It is a bit of a free for all. Parking availability was limited when we attended and expensive and about an 8 minute walk away for the nearest available car park. The toilets had no paper towels in any of them either. Not for me, I'll stick to challenge...
