Absolutely fabulous, love this place. The pictures from their website make it look a bit 'stuffy' and a bit formal, but it's far from that. We went evening time and I guess we were lucky to get a table (reserved one but our plane in was delayed so had to cancel, they moved it to the following night for us, but when we went it was virtually full, so I guess they fitted us in - but I get the feeling they would do anything to accommodate if they could). Although still a very classy venue, mostly a more mature crowd, there was still a beautiful atmosphere and the waiters/management were impeccable. Now, the food.. we always try to sample local delicacies/dishes... so we stuck to Viennese style traditionals, all very good. Spicy sausages with mustard & horseradish with a side order of kraut, and goats cheese wrapped in bacon to start - lovely. We even tried a potato and spinach strudel (only because we've had enough schnitzel), as their veggie option - however, I was blown away by the beef goulash. The pictures don't do it justice.. cos I couldn't wait to tuck in again, but the taste was just stunning. Having just been to Hungary and had goulash every day, this was the best I've ever had.. by far. It's a simple meal but perfectly administered. 10/10. Thank...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this place. As we sat down we were rushed into order so we didn’t even had the time to think about a starter or drinks which our dismissive waiter didn’t seem to care. As he rushed to the kitchen to place the order I waved another waiter and asked for wine and soup starters recommendations. He was more pleasant and added our choices to our order. The recommended pancake soup came and it was delicious. Then came the second course. My son's schnitzel looked and tasted pretty good but my black pudding was absolutely awful. I love back pudding but this was nothing like it. It was mostly potato and black pudding crumbs. To make it worse some bits of it was burnt and it was so salty that I could hardly attempt to eat. No one came back to check until my son’s schnitzel looked finished his meal and mine was sitting there full plate in front of me. When I said how bad it was I was literally dismissed. The apple strudel came and it was fantastic. When the time to pay the check came the waiter pointed out tip options and when I didn’t tip he seemed pretty upset and wouldn’t talk to me anymore. I think I wouldn’t might recommending it for the schnitzel but to be honest I have eaten much better and had much better service in Wien...
Read moreI went here to dinner with my family [wife and one-year-old daughter]. At first we were told that there were no spots inside and it was fully booked, but we were told that if we wanted we could sit outside, so we did [it was not too cold, and then they turned on some heat lamps]. We ordered a few things to sample as much as possible. The schnitzel was good but not fantastic. The goulash was very tasty and rich in flavor. The rosti potatoes were not classic rosti [they came in a pot instead of in the classic "hashbrown" look and were a bit too heavy]. The knödel were great! The waiter recommended goose ravioli for our daughter: we followed his suggestion, but it was not probably the best [however, she ate the filling]. We did not sample dessert. The service was really fast, even a bit too fast: we got our food probably not even five minutes after ordering [I don't know if it was because the food is prepared ahead of time, or if they wanted to serve us quickly so we could leave room]. The bill was fair considering the quality of the food...
