My family visited the Educulture Junkanoo Museum as part of a cruise ship tour. This visit was absolutely the highlight of the tour! The owners, Arlene and her husband, had so much joy and passion to share that we were all swept up in the experience! The story of the Junkanoo traditions, costumes, and music were presented with such care for detail and love! Read moreThe Junkanoo Museum in Nassau is a small but vibrant showcase of the annual parade and the incredible costumes and floats crafted by locals. The highlight is the room featuring the previous year’s festival winner—absolutely worth a look. Another room plays a live sequence of the event, which really makes you want to experience it in person. The hands-on drum station adds to the lively atmosphere and gets you into the spirit of the music.

Read moreWe visited Educulture Junkanoo Museum while in Nassua. The owner Silabert Ferguson was so welcoming. We were able to get in on a scheduled tour group that was arriving. The explanation of the holiday was so informative and exposed us to culture practices of the Bahamas we were nor familiar with. The costumes on display were made by him for his wife, Arlene. She was leading another tour so we didn't meet her but so enjoyed learning about her award winning Junkanoo performances and costumes! The museum is located in her family home. Her family has a long history on the island and was a major force in having Junkanoo Festivals revived region wide. This is fun stop and a great visit into...
