Vell Monkey Foot Grill & Catering — Restaurant in New Providence

This was a pleasant surprise. We thought the place was a sit down restaurant and figured we’d eat there before embarking on a rum distillery tour.

It was more like a food truck, with a double layered garden with tables under the shade of some large lovely trees.

The surprise was really after we got our food. Prices were reasonable but the food was really tasty. Freshly made, home recipes, it was delicious. You get 3 well filled tacos, the jerk chicken sandwich was flavorful and juicy.

It’s a small unassuming spot, but the atmosphere is beautiful. There’s a bar inside the main building with many rum based cocktails, where their sky larking drink is a rum take on a sky juice and so creamy and coconutty.

This place is worth a stop, regardless of the estate. Really good food, great service, beautiful ambiance. It’s a quick walk up from Bay St, so if you’re out and about anyway, come sit in the shade and enjoy quiet away from the tourist...

We spent the week in Nassau and took a food tour which included the distillery where this restaurant is located. I have to confess that the food was the best food we ate all week! The Fish Fry area gets a lot of press, but I found Monkey Foot Grill to be far superior! This place is much cleaner and has a much better feel, with far fewer people haggling you to come into their restaurant. The prices are also much better! The conch fitters and cracked conch were perfectly cooked! The jerk chicken, peas and rice, and plantains would make a Jamaican smile! I was please with them UNTIL I was charged TWICE. I gave the lady my debit card and she said they were having trouble with their machine. I asked if she wanted me to give her cash and she said "that would be better". I saw a charge on the card, when I called they said the transaction was approved. They said they will investigate.
