My only issue with Junkanoo is the number of hustlers (vendors) at the beach. Don't get me wrong, I get it, everyone is trying to get a piece. But we were asked if we wanted to jetski, and ATVs, 4 times..twice by the same guy. They have shops/food/bar service staff that show you a menu with maybe 20 options, but all they have is beer and Bahama Mama, again which is fine but just go with that. Don't show me a menu with hella options to just then say we only have this and that. Be careful giving your card, roll with cash. Expect to rent chairs and umbrellas, they started with trying to have us rent chairs for $15 a chair. Got them down to $8 (which is still wild, but I get it). While we are chilling in our chairs we get asked to rent a cabana with this weak upsale of cushioned seats an umbrella and table service...but you have to buy 2 bottles at Miami nightclub prices. It's a beautiful public beach that is 10-15 mins from the port. But as you exit the straw market, the taxi guys will tell you the walk is 30 mins. Expect $10+ drinks, between the 5-6 different huts, you'll find something for yourself. Food options are available too, $20-40 entree options. Hookah and Cigar sales, but again they are hitting you with high prices. Hookah was $55, talked down to $35. Cheap cigars for $20 a stick, talked down to $10. In the end a good time, but just be prepped.

Got here by MSC cruise at this time from nyc. I came nassau before with Carnival cruise and had blue lagoon excursion therefore I dint want any other excursion except enjoying the beautiful beach. Once you get off the ship, about 15 min walk to get this beach and there is a private beach($75 per person to get in to, unknown name beach) between the cruise ship docking and Junkanoo beach so, you need to walk along the road to get here. The beach is as you can see in the picture and wave is very high and a bit strong enough to enjoy for 10 and older kids. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent about $40 for 2 beach chairs and an umbrella. There was open bar near by and cost about $14 per cocktail and strong enough alchol and right taste(not too sweet) compare to the inside cruise bar but the coconut drink this is not sold at the bar and I asked someone else who bought it from near by ... I was not able to try because it was $10 .. seemed too over price for tourist compare to the residents' living cost economic situation. Live in NYC, I usually don't get surprised with price tags while traveling but coconut was no thank you. Overall, the beach was beautiful and enjoyable.

Great spot if you're looking for a lively, laid-back beach day close to the cruise port. Junkanoo Beach has that perfect mix of local energy and tourist fun, the music's always playing, the drinks are flowing, and the views are amazing. The water is warm and clear, and it's great for swimming or just relaxing. Vendors can be a little pushy, but most are super friendly if you’re polite. The beach can get a bit crowded when ships are in, but that’s part of the vibe, it’s not a private resort, it’s a public beach with character. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent, and plenty of food and drink options nearby (the coconut drinks are a must-try). If you're expecting pristine, untouched sand and total peace, this isn’t it, but if you’re down for good times, good people, and easy access from the port, it hits the mark.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the breathtaking Junkanoo Beach in the beautiful Bahamas, and I cannot stop raving about my experience. From the moment I set foot on the pristine shores, I was enchanted by the natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere that enveloped this tropical paradise. Junkanoo Beach is truly a hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement.

The first thing that struck me was the crystal-clear turquoise water that stretched out as far as the eye could see. The inviting waves gently lapped against the soft, powdery sand, creating a serene and peaceful ambiance. It was like stepping into a postcard-perfect scene, where time seemed to stand still and all my worries melted away.

One of the highlights of my visit was the friendly and welcoming locals who made my experience even more memorable. Their warm smiles and genuine hospitality added a personal touch that made me feel right at home. They were always ready to share stories about the island's rich history, culture, and traditions, giving me a deeper appreciation for the Bahamas.

Junkanoo Beach is not just a place to relax; it is also a hub of vibrant energy and excitement. As I strolled along the shoreline, I couldn't help but be captivated by the lively atmosphere. The sounds of upbeat music and laughter filled the air as beachgoers enjoyed various water sports and activities.

The beach is also dotted with charming beach bars and restaurants that offer a wide array of delectable local cuisine. I treated myself to mouthwatering seafood dishes, including freshly grilled fish and succulent conch fritters, which were a true delight for the taste buds. Pairing these culinary delights with a refreshing tropical drink while gazing at the mesmerizing sunset was an experience that I will cherish forever.

One of the things I appreciated most about Junkanoo Beach was its accessibility. Located just a short distance from downtown Nassau, it was incredibly convenient to reach. Whether you're visiting for a few hours or spending the whole day, the beach offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

In conclusion, Junkanoo Beach in the Bahamas is a tropical paradise that exceeds all expectations. With its pristine waters, warm hospitality, lively atmosphere, and culinary delights, it is an absolute must-visit destination. Whether you're a relaxation seeker or an adventure enthusiast, this beach has something for everyone. I cannot recommend it enough and can't wait to return to this slice of heaven...

My boyfriend and I had a great time. However, we didn't have a great experience with some of the employees at the beach. An employee approached us about renting out the chairs and umbrella for $30. We paid him, when we got to our chairs a group of employees sitting behind us were just sitting there counting money and yelling at visitors at the beach, one of them approached us and closed the umbrella. I asked what was he doing? He said we didn't pay for the umbrella. I said we paid for the umbrella too. He approaches his coworker, the one counting the money and told her what I had said she then began yelling at us saying that we didn't pay for the umbrella and to stop with our lies. I was getting furious because we were being accused of not paying, luckily the employee we gave the money to came back and told her we paid. That nearly ruined my entire day, unacceptable! Another employee from that little group starting yelling at someone visiting the beach taking pictures of everything, to not take pictures of him without his consent as he will bring the cops over, and to delete that picture. It is a beach! Anyone can get caught in someone's picture, it's a public space! Overall the people visiting the beach (people from the resort or/and cruise) were more friendly than a lot of the employees who were renting out the chairs and the umbrella. Nearly ruined my experience thinking it would have been better to just lay on the sand instead of renting out a chair and an umbrella, but overall I decided to let it be and just enjoy the beach as it was our last day there. We had a great time swimming and catching some sun before...

We had a wonderful time at Junkanoo Beach in Nassau, Bahamas! It was a good distance walking from the cruise port, with the streets bustling and lined with interesting shops and museums that we enjoyed visiting along the way. Once at the beach, we found charming hut-style bars and restaurants, and even a captivating DJ creating a lively atmosphere. Public restrooms with showers and changing rooms were available, though they weren't very well maintained. For ladies, I'd suggest wearing your swimsuit under a cover-up or dress. A word of caution: Junkanoo Beach is a public area, not exclusively for cruisers or tourists, and we didn't observe a police presence. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend letting children roam unsupervised or carrying valuable items. Despite that, the water itself was refreshing and perfect for cooling off on a 90-degree day. The beautiful turquoise and blue hues of the ocean were truly stunning. While you're there, be sure to check out Mama Gloria's, a family-run spot serving fresh and delicious snapper, shrimp, and plantains, along with great rum drinks. Don't forget to browse the souvenir and beaded jewelry vendors as well. For even more local flavor, the Fish Fry district is just a short 10-minute walk further up the road. We took a taxi back. There was crazy traffic on the narrow main road, so we were glad we left the beach 2 hrs before our ship was set to depart. We even killed time at the straw market and snapped pics at the I ❤️ Nassau...
