Researched this as we had a day in Brugge as a cruise stopover, saw it had good reviews so decided to go for it. So glad we did. Booked it via the website which was easy, had to contact them as we had two children and a coeliac (gluten free) adult and they were a great help. When we arrived we were met by Pieter who was very welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable and funny. We started with 3 Belgian beers (1 gluten free) and Pieter explained the history and production of the beers. Very interesting and more amusing as the beers progressed. Then we made waffles with batter made from the beer of our choice. The waffle making was great for all involved and they were awesome!! We had two kids 9 and 12 who had 0% beer and soft drinks who also made the waffles and had a great time. I would 100% recommend this, it's away from the tourist traps, the host (Pieter) is just wonderful, you taste traditional beers with explanations and you make waffles! Win win win. Our group was 9 - 70 years of age and we all loved it. We all said we would do it again.

We started around 20 minutes late since there was an issue with a (non existing) reservation of somebody and finally got to try 3 different belgian beers which tasted good, but we only got a tiny sip each. After the tasting we started to bake using a designated beer. Unfortunately at no point we have been told that apparently we are in a hurry and suddenly without warning the guide "kicked us out", when there have been participants who have just finished to bake one single waffle. There would have been batter for like 4 waffles though. We have been luckier and managed to bake one more waffle and were given aluminium foil to take it home. But since it has been still very hot, it just became super mushy. This short event was fun but considering you get to drink one beer in total and are not even allowed to finish to bake your "unlimited" waffles, which ingredients should cost around 5 Euro - the price of 55 Euro per person is embarrassing!

We booked the beer tasting and waffle making class and it was absolutely the highlight of our time in Bruges. The class started with generous pours and some history on beer in Belgium. While this part wasn't particularly entertaining for my kiddo, we found it fascinating (and of course appreciated drinking her samples 😜). The waffle making was fun. There was an edge of fun competitive spirit amongst our class with a funny hat awarded to the person that messed up first. The waffles were of course delicious. My only suggestion is to do the waffles first so you can sit and enjoy them whilst drinking the beer. Regardless, we had waffles for days, and appreciated having cute aprons to take home.

I was excited for this to be an incredible experience and was hoping to hone in on Belgian waffle making skills. I was disappointed that the instructor didn’t really teach us anything about making waffles and I looked to other participants for instructions on how to make the merengue and how to fold it into the batter etc The instructor was more interested in pouring us alcohol and at times I had more than one beer - it felt more like a get intoxicated quickly activity then try and separate egg whites. I guess I envisioned learning from an instructor how to cook each step a demo then have the beer samples later when the waffles were done. The work space was very crowded. I had envisioned some fresh fruit in the toppings options- it was jam preserves in little containers. The whole thing was lack-luster and I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you’re mainly interested in quickly drinking beer.

Really it was a two star experience but the host was nice - it just wasn’t a learning experience- it was a make you’re own waffles and you basically need to already know...
