I have tried their bakery and the flavours are good. This is my first negative review and I do not feel good writing it. However, I have been very frustrated with my experience and been met with rude attitude twice on the phone.

Their website was down, so I tried to place an order on Thursday but staff said it requires a card over the phone. To which I did not feel comfortable, and the staff said you can order on the website (when it is back on) or come on day I want which is Saturday, 12th. He was not particularly nice but I brushed it off as an off day.

Afterwards, I placed an order today on Friday as it started working. Ensuring to follow instructions on website and give at least 24 hour notice for pick up time next day. Twice my order was cancelled with no explanation. So I waited, still nothing and I called to inquire. Again, met with attitude, the guy on the phone said: “well you are supposed to place orders for weekends a week prior”. Sorry that I cannot read your mind and only went by the staff/website!! Lol

I understand it is a busy weekend and if that has been said it is completely fine. However, the entire conversation was very condescending and rude. Additionally, I followed website instruction and instructions from staff. Perhaps letting customers know the correct instruction so we don’t waste our time and your time placing orders and calling you??

I don’t care about impeccable customer service but I don’t care for being...

The RUDEST and SNOBBIEST food establishment I have ever been to! I walked in for the first time today and asked how much croissants were, and I was told by the cashier they were $3.50 each! I said, "Wow! That's a lot!" and then the owner (presumably) shouted rudely, "DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THE INGREDIENTS COST?!". I smiled and said, "No, I haven't done the calculation. But I can imagine it's a lot". He muttered something under his breath. The cashier looked at him and said, "What was that?" and the owner said, "I was just having a conversation with myself". The cashier then said, "Sometimes having a conversation with yourself is the only way to have an intelligent conversation". I could not believe my ears! This all happened right in front of me. He basically called me unintelligent to my face. I was shocked. I almost walked right out, but I was with my 4 year old child and didn't want to upset her as she was expecting a treat. It was my first time in the shop and I live nearby. I couldn't believe how pretentious they were. I will NEVER go back. And I will tell everyone in this neighbourhood how horrible they were. Loaf of dark sourdough rye bread was medicore ($8.50), and the fruit tart was delicious (but also $8.00!). Super disappointing and angering how...

Their pastries and cakes are good but service, organization and responsiveness leaves much to be desired. The online ordering site specifies items that can be ordered same day, but when I tried to place an order for croissants, they were unable to fulfill it (and didn't call me, I had to call to follow up). On a separate occasion, I ordered a roast chicken and the person I spoke with was unsure whether it would be ready by the time he specified. He kept saying "i think it should be ready by then" and seemed uncertain of how to ensure this would happen. Fortunately it was ready on time but caused a lot of unease about whether it would be available at pickup. Finally, when trying to order a cake, I was advised that it would take exactly 48 hours. Granted, their website does indicate that but they quoted me 48 hours to the minute that I called. When I asked if it could be completed any earlier that day, they didn't check with anyone but immediately said they couldn't guarantee that (I was hoping to pick it up outside of rush hour, possibly at the 47 hour mark). It's been several frustrating experiences that don't...

I didn't even know this place existed but was desperately looking for coffee in the area and it showed up on Google Maps. I was blown away by this quaint little haunt in an area I only typically ever come over for to find some heart warming brunch on this block. The pastries and breads are amazing. And the establishment is beautiful. There are small tables if you wish to come with a friend and enjoy your food and beverage within. And the coffee was exceptional. As an added bonus, I was able to practice my French with the server. Service is extremely professional. And the space is cozy and at the same time a little French boujee. Lol. If you want your daily bread, you have to come early as they run out fast. 5 x 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖

Found a thread on Reddit about suggestions for local bakeries and I wrote down a few hoping to visit them in the next few months. First on that list was Eleanor & Laurent, only took 2 pics but you owe it to yourself to go for a visit. As with any good French bakery, going early is recommended or else you'll go just to look at the location, which is very nice and worth the trip as well. Tried a few of their pastries and a sandwich and I was very happy with my selections, specially the sandwich, wow, it was amazing. I'll have to go for a few visits to try all or most of the items but it's a 'sacrifice' I'll gladly do lol. Update: Tried it a few more times since and they always deliver quality stuff. 👍🏻

Eleanor & Laurent is a delightful gem in the University/Garneau area of Edmonton. The mix of sweet and savory options on their menu truly satisfies every palate. The ambience instantly transports you to a Parisian cafe with its charming decor, making it a perfect spot for a cozy meal. Whether you choose to sit indoors or outside, the atmosphere adds to the experience. The service was exceptional—attentive and quick. A must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of France right in the heart of Edmonton.
