Going to this cathedral I combined two goals: I am a newcomer in Canada and wanted to see how local masses are held here and how local churches differed from those in my homeland... and the second reason, I had long dreamed of listening to a live performance on a real good organ. And I won’t hide that this reason was in the first place for me. On Sunday mornings, masses are held here, and the organ of 9000 pipes takes place too... and it was very pleasant moments. Not a full concert, but even so, between parts of the mass I really liked what this musical instrument is capable of. And I want more... now I want to go to a real concert. As for this basilica: a very pleasant calm feeling, I was very impressed by the stained glass windows and quite liked the way the local priests conducted their mass. I’ll probably repeat what some YouTube authors advise to newcomers to the country: if you’re feeling stressed (probably useful for tourists too)... go to a place like this, even just to sit and relax... the surrounding atmosphere and the deep sound of amazing organ music are quite capable of calming the accumulated stress and restarting emotions. P.S.: Many thanks to the priest who served here and then moved to Bedford, where I met him. He recommended me this place and...

The only complain is the sudden change in music. The music use to be incredibly uplifting and would touch your soul. The sudden change isn’t fit for a cathedral/basilica. It’s still very lovely, but it does not deliver the same way. I also find the sudden change in the apostle’s creed to be confusing and not as understanding. Many people have said the same. Sometimes change isn’t always good. Hopefully they can switch it up and use the previous style of singing , as well as the new style to keep...

Saint Mary's Cathedral is located across the street form the Old Burial Grounds, and stands as the largest Catholic church in the Archdiocese. It's over 100 years old and open for visitors to step inside and admire its beauty. If you're visiting the area from the port, Saint Mary's Cathedral is within walking distance.
The stained glass windows are especially beautiful, depicting key passages from the Bible, such as Jonah being delivered to the land by the giant fish, Elijah flying away in the chariot of fire, and Abraham offering Isaac on Mt. Moriah. I've included several images of these, as each one contains...
