Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Mirchi Tandoor Indian Restaurant is an absolute delight for food enthusiasts seeking a taste of authentic Indian cuisine. I recently had the pleasure of indulging in their Lamb Rogan Josh, Prawn Karahi, Chicken Methi, and Laccha Paratha, and I must say, my taste buds were overwhelmed with joy.
The Lamb Rogan Josh was a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The tender lamb was cooked to perfection in a rich, aromatic gravy, complemented by the perfect balance of spices. The dish had a depth of flavors that left me wanting more—an absolute must-try for all lamb aficionados.
The Prawn Karahi was a true masterpiece. The juicy prawns were cooked in a flavorsome tomato and onion-based gravy, infused with aromatic spices. Each bite was filled with a burst of flavors, leaving a lingering taste that kept me craving for more. This dish is a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs at Mirchi Tandoor.
Next on our culinary journey was the Chicken Methi—an absolute winner. The succulent chicken pieces were cooked with fresh fenugreek leaves, resulting in a delightful marriage of flavors. The dish had a perfect balance of spices and a distinctive aroma that left us utterly satisfied.
To accompany our main dishes, we opted for the Laccha Paratha—a flaky and multilayered bread that was an absolute delight. The paratha was cooked to perfection, with just the right level of crispness. Its buttery and rich texture complemented the curries impeccably.
Overall, Mirchi Tandoor Indian Restaurant has nailed it when it comes to flavors and authentic Indian cuisine. The Lamb Rogan Josh, Prawn Karahi, Chicken Methi, and Laccha Paratha were exceptional dishes that left a lasting impression. Read moreThe WORST customer service ever received by anyone at any restaurant or business. Even strangers don't talk like this, let alone if you are operating a business.
I placed an order on the telephone for chicken kadhai, naan and chicken Biryani. I specifically mentioned that the Biryani should be SPICY. Forget about spicy, there was no masala AT ALL in the biryani.it was just yellow rice and bland pieces of chicken. The chicken Kadhai was so SWEET that it was inedible. I had to put spoons and spoons of masala in it to even make it edible.
When I called the restaurant to register a complaint, the man who picked up was so rude that I was astounded. I have never been spoken to this way EVER IN MY LIFE. Not have I EVER heard anyone talking to someone this way. When I complained about the food, the man said arrogantly "You are the only one who doesn't like our food." This alone shocked me,because he should be apologising instead of talking like this.
I told him I am from India and I know what Indian food tastes like. I also told him that the Chicken Kadhai is always a spicy dish -and never sweet. He replied rudely "we don't make anything sweet in our restaurant."
He was so arrogant that I was gobsmacked. I said "This is no way to speak to a customer, least of all when it is your fault." The man said "Oh yeah? How do you speak to a customer then?" At this point I ddnt even know what to say. I said "You should apologise at the very least and then invite th to visit your restaurant again." Then the man said "Oh yeah? Goodbye." And cut the call.
After he cut the call, I was so shocked and I ddnt know how to process this. This place shouldn't even be in business - the food is terrible and the customer service is unheard of. I m still shaking and almost to the point of tears.
All this after I spent $40 on their food. I suspect the man who answered is the owner of the restaurant- because I have spoken to him before - but I can't be sure.
I really hope I have grounds...
Read moreThis is my detailed review about one of the Indian restaurant situated in the heart of Halifax, Mirchi Tandoor. Starting with the most important part of the review, the food, and no doubt food here taste brilliant, no complains on that, although it might be little sweet for many people, so I would suggest asking for spicy or extra spicy depending on your appetite. I personally ordered their Chicken Lababdar and Chilly Garlic Naan, can be seen in photo, this my third time ordering the same curry, and vollaaa, what a taste, I would suggest going a option of “with bone” as you will get 4 chicken pieces which are worth it, also chilly garlic naan was good, I just felt it was little priced, if they offered it for $3 it will be worth it($4.99 original price). Moving forward, they have decent Indian cuisine menu, you can find enough options for vegetarian people as well, for non vegetarian people they got plenty of options. The restaurant is quiet small in size, hardly can accommodate 20 people at once, and some how they have managed to keep 7-10 tables in the space, but considering its location in downtown, I got no complaints. For serving they have brilliant and well trained staff, so no improvement in that area as well. There is NO onsite parking, you can park you on street but they don’t have a parking lot. Lastly, here’s my detailed rating for each thing: Food( compared to price ) : 4/5 Food (in taste) : 5/5 Service : 5/5 Overall :...
