SunDog Transportation and Tour Co — Attraction in Municipality of Jasper

AWFUL EXPERIENCE!! WE DO NOT RECOMMEND SUNDOG TOURS!! FIND AN ALTERNATE TOUR COMPANY!! THE SUNDOG TOUR MANAGEMENT in Jasper ARE AWFUL!! We booked the Maligne Canyon Ice Walk for March 28/18 and the Planetarium Experience for March 27/18 both were booked on January 10, 2018 via the concierge at the Jasper Park Lodge - we received confirmation of our booking on January 10, 2018. We live in Alberta and had family visiting from New Brunswick and this was their first time to the mountains and the only activity they really wanted to do was the Maligne Canyon Ice Walk and we never got to go on the tour as SunDog overbooked the tour and would not allow us to go on the tour. Even though you book the SunDog tours months in advance to ensure that you have the booking you want, it does not guarantee that SunDog will allow you to participate in the tour. We also booked the Planetarium Experience for 8pm and we had to take a later booking, but we were only notified that SunDog could not accommodate our 8pm booking at 7:45pm when we arrived in person for the 8pm show (we did have a 5pm message on our home phone saying that SunDog could not accommodate us for the 8pm show but were were in Jasper at 5pm and did not get the message.) The Planetarium Experience is not worth the funds paid - two of us took the later showing at 9pm and we sat in lawn chairs inside a blowup dome tent for a 45minutes slide show - definitely not worth the money. We could have forgiven the Planetarium mixup and hokey show, had we not been treated so poorly the next morning when we showed up for our 10am Maligne Canyon IceWalk to be refused passage on the tour as it was overbooked. SunDog made excuses saying they called our names and we were not there, but we sat in the Jasper Park Lodge lobby (which is where we were told to meet our tour guide and no one called our names) for over 45 minutes and spoke to a SunDoug tour operator twice and we were told that another bus and tour guide would be there to take us on our tour, and we still did not get the tour we booked and paid for in January 2018. SunDog Tours were very unprofessional and not helpful even thought we had a 4 person booking for both events. On the other side, The Jasper Park Lodge Concierge were very helpful and tried to find us an alternate tour, however we had to be in Lake Louse at 6pm on the same day so we were out of luck. DO NOT BOOK WITH SUNDOG TOUR CO. - their office in Jasper is very unprofessional!! SUNDOG Management in the Jasper office lied to the Jasper Park Lodge Concierge about not having our booking and us not being present for our 10am booking - SUNDOG did have confirmation of our booking and we were present for our 10am tour - SUNDOG was just making excuses because they overbooked the tour and did not have...

BE AND SHAME ON YOU FOR TRYING TO SQUEEZE OUT 30 OR MORE DOLLARS BY NOT PROVIDING CLEAR INFORMATION. Sun dog tours: I called: I was confirming price and I said I am going skiing!! I also confirmed time of departure, what you could bring for luggage and i understand two bags each, best way to book and is there parking for your car at West Edmonton mall as it is a long ways away. I was able to get the information with acceptable ease.

I called to book and clarified again about baggage and having ski's. I was told if I have skis I would have to pay 30 dollars extra!! -No clear indication of this on the web site. -There is a comment I understand 14 questions down under facts regarding this.... not transparent!!! -In my previous calls I was not informed of this extra cost to bring skis. I said I am going skiing each time I called, lots of opportunity to tell me -Sudog does not inform guests when they say they are "going skiing" is this an easy way to get cash to spring it on the person when they arrive at the bus too 'GO SKIING"?

After clarifying 5 times (my son counted) with Kazana (this is what she identified her name as) -I was then told you can have one carry on and no specified dimensioned available! One under the bus baggage under 50 pounds. -a carry on that was good for a flight was acceptable. It was clear the Sundog representative had no idea and no the representative could not say where on the web site where baggage size is described!!! -on the 5th time I tried to clarify ski bag and baggage, I was informed that you can bring your skies, however that would count as you one under the bus baggage. I had said we would have one bag about thigh height and maybe a cooler if this was allowed!!!!! -I asked to speak to a manger as I did not want more surprises and was told Helen was a manger, however I was not put through?????? -This should be a simple, simple booking. One way to go skiing!!! SUNDOG GET IT TOGETHER, HAVE CLEAR INFORMATION ON YOUR WEB SITE. YOU CATER TO A SKIING...

24 May 2023 I booked 3 tickets for "Discover Jasper and its Wildlife" tour provided by SunDog Tour Co. for Sun, Aug 13, 2023 | 05:30 PM. Pickup point was our accommodation. However, when nobody arrived, I called the operator at 5:40pm. I was first told that we were not waiting at the given time. When I said that two receptionists were my witnesses, the man on the phone said that the pick up was 5:30-6:00 pm and that the bus was on the way. At 5:55 pm I received a very rude phone call from the same SunDog Tour Co operator in which he informed me that the tour was sold out and that no bus was coming for us due to lack of space. Even though I got my money back, I booked the tour 3 months in advance and it was meant to be the highlight of our holiday. Also, it cost me an additional £10.50 in phone charges, I also involuntarily provided an interest-free loan to the tour provider, I paid for petrol from Vancouver, accommodation in Clearwater and Jasper, car rental, 3 people wasted 3 days. I also was not compensated for the cancellation. When airlines overbook their flights, they look for volunteers. They offer them typically 3 times the price of the original ticket. We were not volunteers, we had no choice. We were not even informed of the cancellation till my phone call and even then we were lied to. First we were told that we were not ready at the pick up time. When I pointed out that two receptionists were our witnesses, I was told that the bus was on the way. Only at 5:55 pm was I informed of the cancellation, too late to find another activity. The tour was the only reason we came to Jasper. We had no other activities booked here. I find the behaviour of the company representative appalling and the fact that the company sells more tickets than they have places unacceptable.
