Upon our arrival at Professor WEM's Adventure Mini Golf Course at 12:15pm on a Tuesday, we joined a lineup of approximately one dozen individuals. Following our patient waiting time in line, the teenage course superintendent shooed us away from the counter. He denied us our next spot in line in favor of a group celebrating the day of birth of one of their youngest members. This breach of etiquette infuriated me. Augusta Georgia would never tolerate such a transgression. Consequently, I found myself unable to bring the focus, care and concentration to the course that I had wished too.
On account of this lapse, our hopes and expectations were left diminished. We left our hopes there as we did the line. Our dreams shattered we rode the glass elevator to the sky. But nay we did not touch the clouds, we got off on the second floor and immersed ourselves in hot pot. With adequate soju and barley juice imbibed, we returned to the club house and attempted again to begin our round.
Following an exchange of $70 in green fees and some choice words with the course superintendent, our foursome began our round. My wife opted to pocket, not one, but in fact two yellow golf balls, in anticipation of her diminished putting skill level. However, the course exhibited forethought in it's provision of tools to fish your ball from water hazards. As such, her two balls proved unnecessary.
Upon commencment of our WEM adventure, we found the upkeep and maintenance of the course to be satisfactory. My remarkable putting skill level allowed me to record a 2 under par on the front nine. My wife and daughters were unable to match my achievement.
The back nine initially proved less challenging as birdie after birdie saw my score reach -6. Alas, par 2 holes 16 through 18 exist at a more challenging level, and I finished 4 under par. My 10-year-old daughter was the only member of our grouping to record a hole-in-one.
While the course was as excellent as my performance on it, the teenage staffing choices do not allow me to grant a full rating of five stars. I question Professor Wem's credentials. I suspect they have a Masters of Golf rather than PhD. As a doctor of golf would surely augment staff training with trips to courses such as Glen Abbey, the Royal Ottawa, or the Alberta equivalent. Unless and until a sane president returns to the country bordering this course to the South, one could scarcely recommend internships at Augsta National.
Overall a solid course with reasonable wait times. The glass around the upper level allows mall goers to witness the brilliance of rounds like mine, and thankfully it is thick enough that my wife proved unable to shatter it with her errant putts.
Thank you for the adventure Professor Wem....
Read moreI had a fantastic time playing mini golf at West Edmonton Mall! The indoor course was well-maintained and had a fun variety of holes to play. The theming was great too, adding to the overall fun experience.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were plenty of hand sanitizer stations throughout the course, which was reassuring during these times.
The only downside was that the course can get quite crowded, especially during peak times, so be prepared to wait a bit before playing some holes. However, the overall experience was so enjoyable that the wait was worth it.
Overall, I would highly recommend the indoor mini golf at West Edmonton Mall to anyone looking for a fun activity to do with...
Read moreHosted my 4 year olds birthday party here as well as the party room. It was a quiet Wednesday evening so the kids had lots of fun (and I did not have to worry about them I interrupting other players coz there weren't many) The party room was enclosed but not with full height walls - which we knew prior to booking and I did not feel that there was privacy issues. We were away from people sufficiently. The room was clean when we got there. We bought juices from T and T and Villa Madina from the food court across from minigolf catered the dinner for us. (All food except cake need to come from wem vendors) Everyone had a great time. Thank you WEM, Villa Madina and...
