Famous square in the center of Valparaiso surrounded by beautiful historical buildings and a big monument to Arturo Prat. It's location makes it an ideal place from where to start a walk around Valparaiso and get to one of the many nearby funiculars ("ascensor"). One building on the square is particularly striking: the South American Steamship Company building, which is comprised of an old lower part, topped by a very modern and sleek upper part, reminiscent of Zaha Hadid architecture. Italian people will also find the name of the square particularly funny and will immediately think of the comic trio "Aldo Giovanni & Giacomo" sketch "Sotomayor" ;-)
