La Para Kultural — Restaurant in Valparaíso

Excellent spot for live music, excellent food and drink, and the true Bohemian feel of Valparaíso. It reminded me of the "peñas clandestinas" (underground/clandestine concerts) I used to go to when I lived here in the 1980s.

We were a group of six. Two chorillanas were perfect for us, the french fries were quite good (not soggy with grease like in some places) with lots of very tasty, tender meat and two perfectly fried eggs on top. I could have done with more fried onions but still very good. They have local beers on tap. I had a very good mint-ginger lemonade to start with, then had a strawberry mojito later in the evening, both served in very large glasses.

The prices were quite reasonable, the wait staff very friendly, the owner very attentive. The music was just the right volume, and the audience was quiet, mostly listening attentively to the musicians and even getting up and dancing a few times.

The venue is divided into two decent-sized spaces, one where the bar is and the kitchen off to the side. The other is where they do the concerts. The space is intimate so you have a good view of the stage no matter where you sit, but large enough to not feel overly crowded. Check their instagram @lapara_kultural to see their upcoming events.

One of the best nights out with friends I have ever had in Valparaíso. People will tell you the area is very dangerous but as long as you use an uber that drops you and picks you up right at the door there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I would highly recommend it and we will...

Creo la estrella que le puse de calificación es netamente por el jugo de melón que pidió mi polola porque lo demás estaba todo muy malo e insipido.. yo pedi pescado frito y me estaba muy desabrido y la fritura muy pasada en aceite, mi polola pidió pescado a la plancha y ahí se notó aún más que el pescado estaba añejo y sin sabor, ni con sal fue posible mejorarlo... Los acompañamientos muy poco y nada de sabor !!! No suelo quejarme por las comidas y no soy regodion pero de verdad estaba todo muy malo y para que hablar del precio 9 Lucas por cada plato que además de que no era sabroso, la porción servida era muy pequeña ... Posiblemente el lugar como ambiente es súper bueno, pero claramente...

Fuimos a ver un espectáculo de 20 hrs a 23 hrs. Buena atención de la garzona, sólo hay una para todo el lugar, pedimos shop que estaba en la carta, pero no había, pedí agua mineral que estaba en la carta, se le olvidó a la garzona traerla, pero no había, pedí cerveza individual que estaba en la carta, pero no quedaban. La comida se demoró una eternidad y cuando llegó, las calugas de pescado estaban desabridas, sin aliño y un poco pasadas. Las papas fritas espectaculares. El show, impecable, pero el lugar tiene 2 pilares en el centro que tapa la visión, vimos sólo parte de el, tuvimos que pararnos muchas veces para apreciar a los artistas. Mala experiencia, no vuelvo...
