Hostal Po Valparaíso — Hotel in Valparaíso

I spent a total of 15 days in this hostel as part of my trip. I had a great stay and the quality of the Hostal Po contributed greatly to my staying in Valparaiso longer than expected.

The Hostal Po has a very nice location, next to the port, the beautiful pedestrian streets and also close to local services (supermarket, train, tobacco, bakery, etc..)

Camilo the manager and Cony at the reception are great as well as the volunteers that I knew Luis and Lucas. They are all very welcoming and available. They are also very good at giving advice about the city.

I found the rooms and beds very comfortable and clean. There is an individual light for each bed and a USB connection as well.

There is also a large trunk for each bed that can be closed with a padlock, big enough to put my 60 liter travel backpack, another normal backpack, and tote bag. And I still had room to take out some stuff and put it next to it. I found it very practical, no need to unpack the whole bag to sort out what needs to be locked up or to take out all the stuff, fold it, put it away etc. For me this is not a detail but a strong point because it has often been an inconvenient and energy consuming point in other hostals I have traveled in, having to choose what to put in, to make and remake the bag constantly because there is no space.

The bathrooms are also very clean. This is the first time in a long time that I have sat on the toilet!

There are several toilets, so there are rarely any traffic jams.

The common space on the top floor with a shared living room and kitchen is very pleasant and well arranged, it is large and welcoming. There is even a Nintendo corner, minibabyfoot, minibilliard, big chessboard.

I met at the Hostal Po many different travelers, from different countries and there was always a good chemistry, atmosphere surely due to the good energies of the Hostal and its team. I have heard the expression "Good vibes" from several people passing by the Hostal.

It is not uncommon to share an evening over beers and music, there were indeed several instruments in the common room.

I was never bothered to sleep though.

I rarely take the time to write reviews but there I had to take this time and write loud and clear, go to Hostal Po it's great !!!

To summarize: CLEAN, WELCOME, SUPER VIBES, VERY WELL LOCATED...

At the beginning i had a very good experience, however at the end i did not like it at all. When i checked out i asked for help to bring down of 2 stairs, my luggage of 25 kg as i could no do it bymyself, and no one stuff of the hostel wanted to help me saying there were busy. I also got cold water on the room durimg my stay, it was not working properly and at that time was very cold at valparaiso, and i told the owner for him to fix issue for other customers and did not trust me... like i was lying or something like that.... And i did not like that at all.! The rest was ok, good wifi to work,lucas from the hostel is very nice and guenine and the terrace to eat and work is also nice. Thanks.

Just saw your reply, dont think your behaviour and reply is the correct way as owner, im a very good person and i never had a bad behaviour and talked bad to someone on the hostal and i did not leave any bad comment as review to hurt. I Just told the true and guenuine comment. You guy need to improve your costumer service and accept that some customers cannot be happy 100% in that hostal and try to improve that things instead of feeling bad of what i said, that is why google reviews are for... and this reply and message you just replied is not correct from owner according to me as i also said the hostal was good, etc.. I really wish all the best for the future in your hostal.🙏 ...

I don't often leave reviews but Hostel Po is the kind of place that motivates me to sit and think how to put such an incredible experience into words. As soon as I walked in the door I felt at home. At check in, the staff showed me around the hostel and it was clear from the first moment that it wasn't just a job for them, they are genuinely interested in meeting and hanging out with every traveler who shows up. The hostel is a perfect size, big enough to you meet new people and have epic parties but small enough to get to know everybody. The upstairs common area draws people together better than any common area I've seen in any other hostel. Location is perfect, the mattresses are new and comfortable, the showers have hot water and good pressure, the kitchen has everything you need to cook a big meal for the whole hostel. Just watch out, your future travel plans might get lost when you decide to stay there longer instead! My booking was for 3 days but that wasn't enough; in the end I stayed 17. And I'll be back for sure because that's the place I felt the best. Hostel Po is the perfect place for the kind of traveler without strict plans, whose priorities are to meet and hang out with new and interesting people, and who enjoys communal living...
