Located in the historic heart of Zadar, Croatia, the Church of St. Chrysogonus (Crkva sv. Krševana) is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture. Built in the 12th century and dedicated to Zadar’s patron saint, the church impresses with its clean stone façade, elegant proportions, and richly decorated interior. Though not as grand as some cathedrals, its serene atmosphere, ancient altar, and fresco remnants offer a powerful sense of history. The adjoining Benedictine monastery and the church’s location within the old town make it a worthwhile stop for lovers of art, history, or quiet reflection. A small but significant gem with deep historical roots—perfect for a brief yet meaningful visit.

Saint Chrysogonus basilica is a beautiful Romanesque temple that, like some other churches in Zadar, is no longer used as a place of worship. It is now a venue for concerts and consequently cannot be entered at leisure. It is hidden a bit off the beaten path but is definitely worth a look. The Apse of the church, located in the back is especially beautiful. There is a restaurant located opposite of the apse where it can be properly appreciated.

Što bi Zadar bio bez ovog zaštitnika. Može li se odvojiti od Svete Stošije. Ipak, nekoliko podataka iako su i oni nedostatni u pokušaju opisa: =SV. KRŠEVAN • pripada muškom benediktinskom samostanu (ukinutom 1807.) • sagrađena u romaničkom stilu i posvećena 1175.
