During my trip to Prague in June 2025, I stopped by the New Royal Palace (Nový královský palác) at Prague Castle and it didn’t disappoint. While I couldn’t go inside (it’s mostly used for official state events), the building itself is stunning and the large courtyard gives you a real sense of grandeur. One of the highlights of my visit was the Changing of the Guard. I caught the full ceremony at noon, with music and a formal flag exchange. It felt a bit theatrical, but in a fun, respectful way. Definitely worth seeing if you’re there around midday—just get there a little early for a good view. Even without going inside, the area is full of history and atmosphere. I’d recommend taking some time to explore the square, enjoy the views, and soak up the vibe of this royal setting.

Beautiful place, entrance is free of charge, inside you can see a monumental Chatedral among other things like museum and various exibits of paintings. Don't be discouraged by long lane, it really moves fast, in 20-30minutes you will get inside, at least this was case in begining of Novembar.

The new royal palace began to be built in the mid-16th century for Maximilian II. and Rudolf II. The residence of the monarchs today forms the front wing of the II. courtyard of Prague Castle. For example, the Spanish Hall, which got it´s name because it was built over the stables of the noble Spanish horses loved by Rudolf II. The hall measures 43 meters long, 21 meters wide and 12 meters high. In the Middle Ages, the Old Royal Palace housed a monarch, and from the Renaissance, the Habsburg monarchs built new palace buildings to the west of it. From 1753 to 1775, the Viennese architect Nicolo Pacassi unified the external appearance for the various buildings.
