Recently, my friends and I visited Oxymoron in Berlin, and our experience was excellent. The restaurant is located in one of the beautiful inner courtyards of Hackescher Hof, very close to Hackescher Markt station, making it easily accessible while still being quiet and away from the crowds.
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful, elegant, and cozy atmosphere. The interior is spacious, with a unique blend of modern and classic styles, creating a relaxing ambiance. The service was impeccable – the staff was friendly, quick, and always ready to recommend dishes and wines that suited our tastes.
The menu offers European and Central European flavors with interesting Asian influences, which immediately caught our attention. We ordered a variety of dishes, all of which were well-prepared, made with fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. I personally tried the risotto, which was outstanding, with a velvety texture and a perfect balance of flavors. We were also particularly impressed by the vegetarian and vegan options, which were excellent and lacked nothing in taste. The wine pairing suggested by the staff complemented our meal perfectly, enhancing our overall experience.
The prices were absolutely reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. We left completely satisfied, both with the meal and the atmosphere. If you find yourself in Berlin and are looking for high-quality food in a beautiful and comfortable setting, Oxymoron is definitely a place...
Read moreWe went there after searching 30min for a nice place to get coffee and cake. The atmosphere when sitting outside was really nice. The waitress was really nice,so while we were there, my friend could charge her phone. We checked the cakes and they looked very nice. A truffle-chocolate cake and a Cheese-semolina-cake, sounded good. 2 cappuccino. Order done. The cakes were there immediately, the coffee took a little longer, but that's alright. The coffee was good average. But the cake...well...the cheese one was neither tasting like cheese cake nor was there the texture of semolina as I expected. And the truffle one was just kind of old. We couldnt finish it. We were really disappointed, and my friend decided to tell the waiter. But actually not to reclaim, but to let them know they should probably check the quality. These cakes are made from a regional bio bakery(as they advertise it). It didn't took long till the restaurant manager came out, telling he's going to take the cake back without charging for it,and in the same sentence telling us "I'm not going to discuss it with u". Was kind of rude to be honest. Still the waiter was really nice and of cause we tipped him,as it's not his fault if the quality of the food is not...
Read moreDear service personnel of Oxy-MORONs, Congratulations! You have won first prize for the rudest and most arrogant service I have ever experienced in Berlin. That my dear service people is indeed an achievement in a city such as Berlin! You work in a cafe/bistro, in an industry known as the hospitality industry. We all understand hospitality can be challenging, but if you are not even prepared from the onset to try to be hospitable, then clearly hospitality is not for you. There is no need to blatantly ignore your customers, make obvious your impatience, talk rudely to them or raise your voice. Without your customers, regardless of whether they have ordered just a coffee or the whole menu, you have no cafe/bistro, and no job! I was prepared to tolerate a cafe/bistro that was devoid of atmosphere and made no comment on your overpriced menu, where a tea costs an extortionate 5.70 Euro, but I am not prepared to tolerate your rudeness. Not ever! So good luck to you and your overrated cafe/bistro, in light of your terrible service and entitled attitude towards your customers you are definitely...
