I visited the Mustard Shop during my trip to Cologne and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of their products. The mustard is made traditionally and has a rich and tasty flavor. They have many variants of tastes, from sweet to spicy, and you can taste the mustards if you ask. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The shop also has a museum where you can learn more about the history and production of mustard, but unfortunately it was not open when I was there. The shop is located opposite to the chocolate museum, so you can easily combine both attractions.
One of the highlights of my visit was the liquor made of mustard seeds, which also tastes nice. You can try a shot for 2.7 euros and it is quite strong and warming. I bought a bottle as a souvenir and I would recommend it to anyone who likes mustard and liquor.
Overall, I had a great experience at the Mustard Shop and I would definitely go back if I have the chance. It is a must-see for...

She is very knowledgeable and you'll feel like you learned a lot regarding mustard, the local history, and especially learned a lot about the many types of mustards and mustard-based jams they offer. Information pamphlets available and cash-only when we visited Aug. 2018 (we didn't know before visiting and it was the last stop on the way to the train out of town or we would've bought much more than we did). She was able to switch and use a bit of English when she realized our German was very basic. Great place making local mustard (even have one made with Koelsh which is a local type of beer only...
Read moreThe 'museum' is a rather small shop actually. However, the is a good variety of mustards, spreads and honey available for purchase. The customer service person was friendly and generous is letting us taste the different mustards before we decide on our purchase. The price of mustard was reasonable given that they were speciality mustard that you cannot purchase anywhere else. I loved the garlic mustard and bought a pot. My friend bought a bottle of fig mustard spread.
Unfortunately for us, there was no tour available when we were there. Even then, it was an interesting experience as I've never been to a mustard...
