Update: going by other reviews since, it's had much more interesting installations than when I went, so it's worth a go. It changes regularly and you might be lucky and not find it as empty as I did!

Original review:

I don't know if they were trying to capture "emptiness" as a form of art but there was basically nothing there. One liminal space at the entrance with a mono TV (that anyone can see as it's at the desk where you pay) and one down an empty corridor with some bean bags at the end and a video of some lady with a gadget on her hand waving it around saying something like "I am breathing" over and over. That's it. No paintings or anything. Maybe brought to you by the same ones who did the Wonka experience in Glasgow? But sounds like even that had more to it!

My pictures are the entire thing.

Thankfully it was free with my Düsseldorfcard. I wouldn't want to...

Just enter the cafe and continue down the stairs. Well, at least if you want to get to the art. Whether or not you enjoy this depends mostly on the exhibition; if that wasn't already obvious. The entrance can be a bit intimidating as the coffee business is predominating. Downstairs you find a fairly small art gallery; not so intimidating at all. And with that, is a special venue, totally, even though it plainly looks like a small art gallery. I guess most times one hour is plenty to go through it. Entrance is cheap, so it's a good filter if you have...

Enjoyment will depend on taste and which theme is on when you visit, very contemporary pieces of doubtfull quality and inspiration. There is not much space and it could have been used more efficiently (so more pieces). Works together with the Kunsthalle more in the centre of the 'Alt Stad' which also has very contemporary works. The KIT (Kunst Im Tunnel) cafe upstairs seems to get more attention than the actual...

You probably won't find the gallery in the former tunnel anywhere else and for that reason alone it is worth visiting this place. In addition, with the "Düsseldorf Card" you do not pay any additional entrance fee. The place is very photogenic and at the time of our visit there was one of the installations on which it was possible to practice photographic composition. On Friday around noon we were the only visitors here.

It is very small but it is really creative. It changes completely and all of them are temporary exhibits, the time that I was there it was different chair/desk/bed settings with some books on each of them so you can sit/sleep on different settings and read books that I found it very cool. For finding the entrance door you need to enter the coffee shop and from there you can ask them and they will show you the way.
