Living am Carlsplatz (Apartment) — Hotel in Dusseldorf

Booked a "Premium Comfort Suite" advertised with air-conditioninng for 2 nights on direct-book.com (official site). Shortly after booking, the Hotel owner sent a Whatsapp message with the room number and door entry code. I showed up an hour later at 10pm and found the room has no airconditioning. I called up the owner immediately to clarify why there was no AC as advertised. His answer was: Its not really that warm (which it was). He can arrange a portable airconditioner (whatever that is), BUT he can only provide it the next day because its too late. So I have to make do without AC.

I then replied that this will not work for me as I booked the room specifically for AC and that I will leave. I cannot accept this product which does not match the description and I expect the booking to be cancelled with a full refund. Subsequently, he only refunded the second night claiming that the "system" does not allow him to refund the first night after the fact (total BS). Upon further confrontation, the reason changed to "no refund because my booking was made on short notice". Clearly a fraudster operating this establishment ruining the reputation of the city. As a matter of principal, I filed a police report and will follow up with other actions. I recommend to avoid this trap...

If I could give zero stars, I would. I booked a refundable stay for May 2025 after finding this place on Google. The website didn’t work, so I contacted a person named Masoud who sent me a manual payment link via email.

I paid in full for the refundable option, but later had to cancel. When I requested my refund, Masoud claimed they’d never received payment — despite me providing screenshots of the transaction and proof that he sent the payment link.

They tried to deny the whole thing and keep my money. Thankfully, my bank was able to recover the funds.

This was a clear attempt to scam me. Book elsewhere. You’re better off paying more for a legitimate, trustworthy establishment than dealing with this kind of behaviour.

Once again you can see the bad faith they act in, now claiming I never booked, I did, (booking reference BB25032016906920). Thankfully using a reputable bank like Barclays enables them to recover funds in instances like this where the provider has acted in bad faith, without the need for approval from the vendor as stated here. Vorab: Google lässt mich die Fotos von den beschriebenen Zuständen im Hotel nicht veröffentlichen. Sie würden nicht dem Anspruch von Google entsprechen. So ein Glück für den Betreiber.

Mein Aufenthalt im "Living am Carlsplatz" hat bei mir gemischte Gefühle hinterlassen. Die Mischung besteht aus den Gefühlen reingelegt, abgezockt und hinters Licht geführt worden zu sein.

Positiv das Hotel existiert und meine Freundin und ich hatten tatsächlich einen Platz zum Schlafen; vielen Dank dafür der Empfang für mobiles Internet ist hervorragend; das muss ich wirklich hervorheben, da das WLAN ziemlich mies ist (s.u.) man ist wirklich sehr schnell in der Stadt und am Rhein

Negativ das Living suggeriert auf seiner Startseite, dass es sich um ein 4 Sterne Hotel handeln würde (es werden 4 Sterne abgebildet); wenn das 4 Sterne waren, hat die Inflation auch Hotelkategorien abgewertet; ich glaube eher, dass hier gezielt Unwahres suggeriert wird die Classic Suite entspricht in (absolut) keinster Weise den Bildern auf der Seite; man bekommt nicht das, was dort gezeigt wird; es wird nirgendwo darauf hingewiesen, dass es sich um Beispielbilder handelt das gesamte Apartment (Nr. 45) ist ziemlich abgewohnt (s. Bilder) die "voll ausgestattete Küche" enthält keinen Ofen, keine Pfannen und keine Töpfe (haben wir dann auf Nachfrage bekommen; Pfannenwender gab´s trotzdem nicht); das Geschirr ist nicht sauber (s. Bild) Es gibt einen Mini-Kühlschrank, der so aufgedreht war, dass meine Lebensmittel eingefroren sind; der Kühlschrank ist zudem sehr laut (er steht ja direkt im Schlafzimmer) Die Küche macht insgesamt den Eindruck, als wären Schüler engagiert worden, um sie zusammenzubauen. Und zwar im Jahr 1995 Überall Dreck und Staub (s. Bilder) Lampe im Bad defekt und übelst verdreckt (s. Bild) Hygiene und Sauberkeit im Bad unterirdisch das tolle freie WLAN genügt gerade mal, um E-Mails zu lesen (1,58 Mbit im Download, kein Upload möglich) Geschwindigkeit ein Witz (s. Bild)

Insgesamt fühle ich mich einfach nur verarscht. Die guten Bewertungen...
