We were only able to see the outside, but we enjoyed that very much, especially the old stone arched window frames from 1277. It was fun to walk under the tower, though it would be nice if the view was nicer from either end of it. History of the tower is cool (see info sign in photos). I wouldn't say this is a "must see" but if you have time to kill and like old buildings, you should!

Fue reconstruida en 1958 y posteriormente entre 1974-75. Actualmente la torre sirve como sala de exposiciones.

Der Eisenturm ist wie der Holzturm einer der 3 erhaltenen Stadttürme der mittelalterlichen Stadtmauer von Mainz. Optisch sehen sich Holzturm und Eisenturm zum Verwechseln ähnlich, vor allem wegen der identischen Farbgebung. Der Eisenturm ist jedoch nicht sehr hoch und hat beidseitig Anbauten, während der Holzturm schmal, viel höher und oben mit Erkern versehen ist.

Der Eisenturm ist schön anzusehen, da er nach dem Krieg komplett restauriert wurde. Er wird von Kunstvereinen unterhalten. Im Gegensatz zum Holzturm kann der Eisenturm besichtigt werden. Es finden Ausstellungen darin statt, zumindst war das früher...
