I have just returned from the Osteiner Hof in Mainz where I stayed for a week in the Bremen apartment with my wife. Whilst the location was excellent the apartment was very small. As you come in the door there is a small toilet and wash basin immediately to the right and a 4 inch step up to the rest of the apartment which you had to be aware of. My wife did manage to trip on one occasion. There is a Chaise Longue stuck in an alcove which is the only place to sit comfortably alone or side by side if you have a partner. No arm chairs. The kitchen is reasonably fitted out and there is a high table with 3 high bar stools which if you are small or elderly can be a problem. Leading off the kitchen is a small shower room which you have to manoeuvre into a corner to close the door. The shower is good though. The bedroom is a reasonable size and has a wardrobe. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were large square things which were impossible to sleep on, for us anyway. The windows were a good 7 feet up so no view. For almost a thousand pounds a bit pricey and more suited for a weekend rather...
Read moreThis was the first hotel we stayed at, as part of a 7 month trip through Europe and Africa. Will admit - not the best idea, as this apartment is SO NICE, that you'll end up comparing all your future hotel rooms against it (and they'll probs come up short).||||Beautiful converted building, spacious rooms, everything feels recently renovated and clean. The owner was exceptionally friendly and went out of his way to help us. ||||Our room looked over the main square and fountain, and was extremely nice to fall asleep at night with the window opening listening to people walk past, eating at cafe and the fountain in the background.||||Only thing to note is that the beds seem a little small. We're used to a king at home, or queen when we travel. This may indeed be a queen, but it feels like a double. I fell off the bed (while sleeping) one night we stayed. Not fun as bed is quite high.||||Excellent stay in Mainz, and a great alternative to Frankfurt if they're having a convention (and the prices go sky-high). Old town here is small, but there's enough stuff to keep one busy...
Read moreThis was a 5* stay in a perfect location. Hosts were friendly, polite and showed us to our room. The room had everything we needed (fridge, cooker, kettle, TV, air-con unit, comfortable bed and sofa, table and chairs for morning breakfast) and may have been recently refurbished. Our room and all around the facility was clean and tidy and the apartments are situated in a great location and within 10 minutes walk to the Mainz train station and local bus services directly outside. We would have no hesitation in returning back and we would recommend. ||Tip for forward journey - If using the bus services to travel to the next destination (We used Flibco bus services at Mainz Train Station to travel to Hahn Airport), when you arrive in Mainz, ensure you get your bearings and find the bus stop number your leaving from upon arrival, as the bus station platform numbering system was not straight forward and we nearly missed our bus back to the airport trying to find it (We used Flibco and the next bus was 4...
